Holidays 20 september
Stress resistance and the ability to multitask are the main qualities of any recruiter. On September 20, Russian headhunters celebrate their professional holiday. In 1991, during the atrocities and chaos in the vastness of the former USSR, the Izvestia newspaper published an interesting article “Headhunters.” The author, Vasily Zakharko, colorfully described the life and dogma of one American HR agency, which he was able to visit personally. The article made a strong impression on the minds of Russian businessmen, and V. Zakharko’s materials became the first HR manual in Russia. Russian recruiters declared September 20, the day the article was published, as their professional holiday. In fact, Germany can be considered the birthplace of all recruitment companies. It was there, back in the 19th century, that the world's first organization engaged in personnel selection appeared. The progressive development of industry contributed to the increase in jobs. The professional qualities of the employees came to the fore. The example of Germany inspired the creation of recruitment agencies in France and Britain. After the Second World War, the United States became the undisputed leader in the recruiter market. Having honed their skills in recruiting military personnel, American personnel officers began to master “white collar” workers, making servicing civilian enterprises a priority. Many US recruiting agencies today are the oldest in the world. For example, Heidrick & Struggles, Korn Ferry, MRI Worldwide. In Soviet companies, the person involved in personnel work was not very successful. The main field of activity was paper correspondence related to filling out work books and registering vacations. In essence, exclusively clerical work. Russian recruiting originates from the Ares company, founded in the early 90s in St. Petersburg. From 1995 to 1998, the number of companies providing personnel selection services increased significantly, however, the 1998 crisis thinned them out. The strongest survived. The next test of strength happened in 2008-2009, when another economic collapse came to Russia. After which HR business in the country began to develop confidently and turned into a reliable personnel industry. Among other HR functions, recruitment has a decisive impact on profit and revenue. Which, in general, is logical. After all, personnel decides everything. And choosing the best of the best for the company is the recruiter’s task. In addition to searching for employees, interviews, meetings and negotiations, experienced headhunters regularly conduct various trainings. HR people celebrate their professional holiday in a very intellectual way: they hold seminars and forums, organize thematic meetings where they share their experiences. They organize master classes for young professionals and students preparing to join the ranks of recruiters.
In 2004, declared the International Year of Rice by the United Nations General Assembly, a new international holiday was approved - World Rice Day, which has since been celebrated every September 20th. Since then, a significant number of years have passed, during which the cultivation of this grain crop has not ceased to grow. Today, many countries can boast of their rice exports and their excellent quality. Among them are China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, as well as Vietnam and Thailand, which supply more than 75% of the world's harvest of this cereal to other countries. Italian risotto, Greek moussaka, Uzbek pilaf - rice dishes are eaten by the majority of the world's population, and who knows how many other national recipes from different countries we have not yet tried. One of the reasons for this success lies in the ease of growing this cereal and its subsequent storage, since it does not require special conditions in order not to lose its original qualities. Until now, scientists do not know any data about the time of the appearance of the first rice plantations, or about the places where they once appeared. However, everything indicates that people were cultivating this plant more than 7,000 years ago, and this cereal was first produced in Asian countries. Some sources claim, however, that the first rice plantings were undertaken in the south of India and only then extended to the north of the country. Later, residents of China, Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines acquired rice farming skills. The Persians distinguished themselves in the import of rice crops - they were the main suppliers of this crop to other continents for a long time. Next, rice reached Egypt, Morocco and Spain, and from there it spread to other parts of Europe. The Portuguese brought it to the African colonies, and from there rice reached America. It is still believed that rice is a kind of gift from the Old World to the New, and in addition, today there are more than 10,000 varieties of this cereal crop on Earth. Rice contains the following substances:• carbohydrates;• vitamins;• minerals;• amino acids. Its protein content is low, and the lack of fat makes it a fairly low-calorie product. There is no cholesterol or sodium in rice, so this cereal can be considered acceptable for a balanced diet and for following the rules of a healthy lifestyle. It is worth adding that rice does not contain gluten, and therefore is suitable for people suffering from intolerance to this protein. Perhaps only the Chinese will not have to rack their brains over how to celebrate a holiday that they can rightfully consider national. In China, any celebration is accompanied by abundant eating of three-flavor fried rice - a traditional dish loved by all residents of the country. To celebrate this interesting holiday in our homeland, you can invite guests to a dinner consisting entirely of rice dishes, starting with appetizers and ending with dessert. To do this, it is worth bringing in national dishes from different countries and acquiring their recipes and all the necessary ingredients in advance. Starting with light snacks in the form of Japanese nigiri and rolls, you can move on to Cuban rice - with tomato and egg, Spanish paella with chicken and seafood, grandma's pies stuffed with meat and rice, and end the feast with rice pudding or a Thai dessert from rice and mango - guests will be amazed.
In the USSR, children from a very early age were instilled with love for the Motherland and work, respect for parents and reverence for older people. Every Soviet citizen, in addition to studying and working, was obliged to participate in socially useful activities. Schoolchildren collected scrap metal and waste paper, took charge of children and poor students, and helped veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Every autumn, students and intellectual workers went to collective farms to harvest crops - “to harvest potatoes.” Participation in subbotniks, duty in the DND, bailing out colleagues who abused alcohol, and other socially useful work were considered commonplace. He was the moral norm of Soviet people. Altruism is still a part of people's lives today. September 20 is the Day of Socially Useful Person. It is celebrated by all who give freely of their time and money to help others. Despite its critical attitude towards tsarism, the Soviet Union continued the traditions of selfless concern for the well-being of people established in the Russian Empire. Thus, in 1860, the publishing house “Public Benefit” was founded in St. Petersburg, which was engaged in the publication of works of art for youth, historical treatises and works on natural science. Free assistance for the development of science and art from patrons was a common occurrence in the Russian Empire. Merchants Savva Morozov, Pavel Tretyakov, Alexey Bakhrushin and Savva Mamontov opened museums and theaters and were engaged in the revival of ancient crafts and folk crafts. Princess Maria Tenisheva took part in educational activities - thanks to her, a vocational school for the children of workers, an art studio, evening courses and a club were opened. Books under the brand "Printing House of the Public Benefit Partnership" continued to be printed until 1917. The work of patrons did not go in vain after the Bolsheviks came to power - their collections of works of art became exhibits of the Russian Antiquity Museum in Smolensk, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin in Moscow. The traditions of Russian merchants continue today. Public benefit is one of the motives for the activities of representatives of large businesses who sponsor cultural foundations and donate paintings and sculptures by ancient masters and other works of art to museums and galleries of the Russian Federation. Russian actors take an active part in charitable activities. Thanks to the foundations and their campaigns, expensive treatments and medical services become available to children and adults. Socially Useful Person Day is also a holiday for volunteers who help people with Down syndrome free of charge. Volunteers provide them with psychological and informational support, work as escorts, and place “sunny children” in foster families. The holiday, which falls on September 20, is celebrated by owners of homeless animal shelters, volunteers participating in nature conservation activities - in short, all people for whom altruism and social benefit are not an empty phrase, but are considered the norm of life.
This holiday appeared in 1908, when the autumn fair was held in the city of Southport. Local confectioners have noticed that their products sell better with chilled tea. Since then, Spontaneous Tea Party Day has been celebrated every year on September 20. Tea and delicious sweets help create a warm and cozy atmosphere in cloudy autumn weather. A properly prepared drink from tea leaves has a tonic effect, stabilizes metabolism, and accelerates the process of fat breakdown. Tea contains theine, this substance is called tea caffeine, which acts as a mild psychostimulant. People with hypertension and glaucoma are better off drinking herbal teas or choosing green and white teas. Strong black tea stimulates the nervous system, increases heart rate and increases blood pressure. This drink is useful for hypotensive people; it will help cheer you up and reduce dizziness. Tea also helps with diseases of the circulatory system and atherosclerosis. The drink contains tannins, rutin, acids, phylloquinone, which have a beneficial effect on the blood, restore the elasticity of the walls of blood vessels, improve blood clotting, eliminate the effects of heavy metals, and reduce the risk of cholesterol plaques. People invented tea in the days when they learned to make fire. Only instead of tea leaves, our ancestors used field herbs. The leaves of the tea bush were first brewed in India. Then this tradition appeared in Asian countries and gradually spread throughout the world. In Europe, a drink made from dry tea leaves was available only to rich people for a long time. Thanks to the British, tea became widely available on all continents. There are now about 1,500 different varieties of tea. The most popular varieties: black long leaf, green leaf, and white teas. According to statistics, every third person in the world drinks one cup of tea every day. This holiday is celebrated brightly and colorfully in England and Great Britain, Japan, China, and India. During the celebration, costumed festivals are organized and everyone can taste different types of tea for free. In the CIS, this holiday is celebrated more modestly. On this day you can organize themed parties, recreate the Chinese tea ceremony, or hold a holiday in English or Indian style. You can also put a beautiful samovar on the festive table and remember Russian traditions, or have a modest tea party with close friends or colleagues.
Every year on September 20, all customs officers, declarants and customs representatives of the Republic of Belarus celebrate their professional holiday, Customs Officer Day. The holiday was established by presidential decree in 1996 in order to emphasize the importance of the role of the customs service in the economic development of the country and ensuring its security. The establishment of the holiday brought the profession of a customs officer to a new level and gave a powerful impetus to the development of the customs service as a full-fledged law enforcement agency. The Republic of Belarus, as a state bordering five neighbors, is interested not only in preserving its national integrity, but also in developing socio-economic relations. Geographically, Belarus has always been one of the key European centers for the intersection of trade routes, and therefore the most important task for the state is to protect its economic interests and the impossibility of counterfeit, prohibited products, cargo and illegal immigrants crossing the borders of the Republic. Therefore, to protect its borders, the Customs Committee of the Republic was formed in 1991, and subsequently legislative documents were developed and adopted regulating the legal powers, tasks and functions of the customs service. Some of the most important documents are the “Customs Code” and the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the Customs Tariff”. Also in 2001, by decree of the President, a special heraldic sign was established - the emblem and flag of the customs authorities, which once again emphasized the role of customs services in the prosperity of the state. Traditionally, on their professional holiday, customs services sum up the results of their work, the best employees are awarded badges, certificates of honor, letters of gratitude, and memorable gifts. Also on this solemn day, extraordinary titles are awarded and customs veterans are honored. To maintain foreign trade economic relations with their neighbor, Russia and Ukraine, as a rule, send delegations to participate in press conferences and to present a welcome letter with congratulations. In addition to their state professional holiday, the customs services of the Republic and its representatives celebrate International Customs Day, which is celebrated annually on January 26.
Sede is considered one of the most significant holidays of the Zoroastrian calendar. It is preceded by a special fast, which is associated with the ability to distinguish between light and darkness. It runs from September 20 to 22. During this period, it is important not to give in to temptation, to observe signs and keep track of important details. Sede, along with Mikhgran and Nouruz, is one of the triad of the greatest holidays of the year and is associated with the autumn equinox, which foreshadows the time of parting with warmth and the sun. In Zoroastrianism, the cold season is perceived as the temporary death of nature and the onset of the triumph of the forces of evil. The autumnal equinox is taken as a symbolic transition point, after which the day begins to wane and a new time comes when the fight against the forces of darkness begins. To defeat them, it is important to be on the side of good and light, especially for those who have not yet made their choice. Since Sede is considered a very important holiday, it is preceded by a special fast. The celebration takes place at sunset, when the Sun is in the first destructive degree of the constellation Libra. However, destruction concerns only earthly forms and with it begins a new era of Division (Vizarshi). The degree of Frashegird in translation means the moment of the Last Judgment. To prepare for the celebration of Sede on the eve of the autumn equinox, you should set a limit to the influence of the forces of evil in yourself, approach this holiday, summing up the past months of the year, clearing yourself of everything unnecessary. For better liberation, you will need to renounce the earthly mistakes you have made. This time is associated with the harvest. The fruits obtained up to this point must be saved, and the best ones must be selected, which will become seeds next year. This is the time when the wheat is separated from the chaff and the grains of valuable experience are gathered together. Sede is celebrated from noon until sunset. At this time, it is customary to light 8 fires, as well as read Ahura prayers, addressing the patrons of order and law - Mithra and Mazda. In Zoroastrianism, as in other religions, fasts are provided before the onset of great holidays, which include Sede. The fast lasts three days (from September 20 to 22), when the Sun is at 29-30 degrees Virgo. It provides for certain restrictions on food necessary to cleanse the body, spirit and soul. People who fast should not eat food of animal origin. You should avoid all dishes that require killing living beings to prepare. Meat, fish, eggs and caviar are prohibited at this time. It is recommended to eat bread products and consume dairy products, which help transform by launching alchemical processes in the human body. It is believed that abstaining from meat products helps create a barrier between the forces of evil and those who fast. Before the onset of Sede, it is recommended to include porridge from various cereals in the diet, including millet, barley, oatmeal and peas. It is better to cook them in vegetable oil. The main difference between fasting before the autumn equinox is the ban on eating fruits and vegetables with pulp, which include apples, watermelons, melons, etc. Followers of the Zoroastrian faith are helped to fast by various psychophysical and spiritual exercises called ascesis. Such practices are important for preparing for the holiday itself. Despite the fact that fasting is considered obligatory, some modern movements that preach Zoroastrianism now refuse to observe it. The basis is to perform good deeds, but it is forgotten that fasting is very useful for strengthening the spirit and body.

Orthodox holidays on September 20:
September 20 is the Memorial Day of St. Macarius of Optina, who made a great contribution to the development of spiritual literature and opened it to ordinary believers. He was closely associated with many famous writers, publishers, and playwrights of the 17th century who came to confession to the elder. Macarius was born into a noble family, which in addition to him had three more sons and a daughter. He was born in the village of Shchepyatin, which is located on the territory of the modern Bryansk region, and at the end of the 17th century belonged to the Oryol province. His mother died of consumption when the boy was only nine years old. He received a good education, but at the age of 14 he was forced to go to work in the treasury. Three years later, the young man was promoted to the position of head of the counting table. When he turned eighteen, his father died. The young man resigned and returned home to inherit the family estate. He did it for the next four years, after which he decided to visit the Ploshchanskaya Hermitage, which was located nearby. After the pilgrimage, Macarius stayed here forever. At first he was a novice, and then took monastic vows. According to the recollections of his contemporaries, Macarius walked towards this goal along a straight path, as if God had prepared this path for him from birth. He had no doubts, no hesitations. He lived in this monastery for nineteen years, after which he moved to Optina Pustyn. Under the leadership of the Monk Macarius, translations and manuscripts of the Optina Hermitage were systematized and published. He took this so seriously that soon a whole school of publishers and translators arose who specialized specifically in spiritual literature. Rare writings, which previously could only be read by monks, have become accessible to ordinary believers. Famous people of that time came to confession to the Monk Macarius. Among them were the writer Nikolai Gogol, the playwright Alexei Tolstoy, and the poet Alexei Khomyakov. Several years before his death, Macarius accepted the great schema. The monk received believers until his death.
