Holidays of Ukraine - Day of Tax and Customs Worker

Considering the important role of the country's tax authorities and local governments in ensuring the integrity and unity of cash flows, as well as customs policy, this holiday is considered a national, state holiday for all employees of the tax inspection and customs control. It has been celebrated annually since 2000. During this time, the date of celebration, for various reasons, changed three times. Under President Leonid Danilovich Kuchma, it was celebrated on October 30 as the Day of the Tax Service of Ukraine. Yushchenko Viktor Andreevich considered it necessary to change this date to July 2. Some time later, from October 11, 2013, according to Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 554/2013, this celebration was moved to the date of March 18 and, in order to preserve the unity of the tax services of Ukraine, the celebration was combined for the Ministry of Tax Collections and customs authorities. This day is not a day off and therefore the heads of these services have the opportunity to congratulate all their subordinates directly on the day of celebration at their workplaces. The bodies for accounting and control over tax obligations and cash flows of Ukraine were created on July 1, 1990, by presidential decree “On the creation of the state tax service in the Ukrainian SSR” dated April 12 of this year, as a division of the Ministry of Finance. The purpose of creating a political tax system in Ukraine is to control the regular financial tax flow to local and state bodies, for the full functioning of the economy of the entire country. In 1996, as part of the tax service, special units were created to detect tax offenses - the tax police. This was the beginning of the construction of an effective tax system to control tax payments.
