Holidays 7 may
The date adopted for Radio Day in Russia is May 7th. This day was not chosen by chance. It was on May 7, in 1895, that Alexander Popov, a teacher in the subject of physics in the officer course in Kronstadt, read out a report “On the relationship of metal powders to electrical vibrations.” Then he made the first radio communication session using a device of his own production. A great event took place among the scientists of St. Petersburg, but at first it was not noticed by the public. In fact, Popov's creation of the receiver turned out to be one of the world's great technical discoveries. As you know, subsequently, thanks to the insistence of the public, Popov’s achievements were appreciated. This day was solemnly celebrated only in 1925, and officially every year Radio Day in Russia began to be celebrated in 1945. This same year marked 50 years since the invention of radio by a Russian physicist. In honor of this date, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR decided to set the date of May 7 as the annual holiday of Radio Day. The goal is to popularize domestic science and attract people to amateur radio. The invention of radio, the creation of a wireless telephony system is considered an incredible breakthrough by our scientist and all Soviet science. The emergence of innovative areas in culture, technology and science has given humanity enormous opportunities. The role of radio in the political and defense spheres of the country is important. Modern devices and communication capabilities - television, Internet, telephone and much more - are the result of the achievements of the great scientist Alexander Popov, and subsequently many other scientists. All means of communication of subsequent generations are based on the works of past years and the beginning of everything is the detection of electromagnetic waves. Every year in our country, Radio Day is celebrated by students and graduates of all radiophysics graduates, as well as teachers of such faculties and scientists. All those who are passionate about radio and for whom radio is their professional field of activity. For many people in the country, this holiday is a professional holiday. This day is considered special for all communication workers. Thousands of people who notify us about news that happened in the country and in the world, as well as telegraph operators, signalmen and many other branches of modern communications celebrate their professional holiday on May 7th. On Radio Day, it is customary to give festive concerts, hold evening meetings, demonstrations, and mass movements along city streets. The holiday is widely celebrated in technical universities that have radio communications departments. Tomsk University is especially distinguished, namely the Faculty of Radio Engineering. Students of this faculty celebrated their professional day so widely that the holiday gradually became one of the good traditions of the university. Since the 2000s, Radio Day has been adopted as a citywide event in Tomsk. Here, May 7 is now celebrated not only by students of Tomsk University, but people from neighboring cities and regions come to celebrate.
The decree on the creation of the RF Armed Forces was signed almost a quarter of a century ago by the first President of Russia. From this Decree, May 7 began to be considered the Day of the Creation of the Armed Forces. Despite their apparent youth, they have ancient roots, a unique history illuminated by great victories and bitter defeats.
Defender of the Fatherland Day is a public holiday of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is usually celebrated on May 7. The tradition of celebrating this day dates back to 1992, when President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev signed a law that included the creation of his own army. Exactly 20 years later, the head of state made a decision, thanks to which today May 7 is a public holiday, officially a day off for all residents of Kazakhstan. This decision is due to the fact that the country respects everyone who is in any way connected with military service. For some, Defender of the Fatherland Day is simply an opportunity to take a break from study or work, but military personnel on this day will receive new titles and words of gratitude from the entire country, including the respected Nursultan Nazarbayev. Many Kazakhstanis ask a completely reasonable question: “Why is so much attention paid to a seemingly ordinary day?” This is a good question with an equally good answer. The introduction already mentioned the fact that residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan are quite respectful of people holding certain positions in the military sphere. As a result of the fact that on Defender of the Fatherland Day, military personnel are honored in front of the whole country, the desire to serve one’s state not only weakens over time, but on the contrary, it becomes more and more numerous. Just like the entire multinational people of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev treats every defender of the Motherland with great respect, speaking about it approximately as follows: “We are faced with an important task - to build a powerful army, which at any time will be ready to resist any attempts to violate order of our state. The army must become better every day and, if something happens, carry out any order of the commander-in-chief.” Since Defender of the Fatherland Day is a public holiday, this day is celebrated in all cities and towns of the country. The celebration program primarily consists of a festive parade, which takes place in the center of Astana. People are naturally given the desire to have fun, especially when it comes to a holiday in Kazakhstan, so after the main parade people disperse to parks and squares, enjoying the “clear sky above their heads” and saying words of gratitude to the defenders of their country. More than one year, of course, is not complete without traditions, which include national costumes and wonderful performances, where everyone can listen to military songs and speeches of gratitude. Before going to bed, many people go out to watch the wonderful fireworks displays that are usually organized in major cities of Kazakhstan. Military personnel also contribute to this wonderful celebration by firing cannon shots, which look absolutely stunning against the night sky. For residents of the capital of Kazakhstan, May 7 is a rather unusual day, on which the city turns into a real fortress. Every year, several thousand people take part in the parade, observing a large number of tanks, helicopters and other military equipment. In order for the holiday to be flawless, they begin to prepare for it several months in advance. Residents of the remaining 86 cities have the opportunity to turn on the state channel and also get a lot of emotions from what they see, while being in a cozy home atmosphere.
The date May 7 is marked by the official day and holiday of signalmen, specialists of the radio technical service of the Navy of the Russian Federation. The first time Russians celebrated this holiday was on May 7, 1966. It was then that the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy of the Russian Federation, in the form of an order, established a number of professional days and holidays for this branch of the military. An interesting symbolism is the fact that May 7 is also celebrated as Radio Day. May 7, 1985 Popov A.S. gave a report and demonstration of the first radio receiver. There was a very wide celebration of the anniversary in honor of the 50th anniversary of the creation of radio, but this date became an official holiday in 1980. We will consider below why communications and radio equipment of the Navy are important for our country. Main tasks:• Evolutionary development of the communication system for organizing and maintaining the operation of the control system between the ship and the control center for all units of the Navy;• Ensuring the defense of the country from possible attacks from the enemy;• Preparation of proposals for modernizing the mechanisms of information transmission systems;• Monitoring the maintenance high-quality communication with minimization of interference, despite enormous distances; • Monitoring the situation at sea and under water; • Protecting existing communication channels from information interceptors and interference from opponents with the aim of causing harm. The importance of signalmen and radio technicians in our time in the armed forces, especially in the navy, cannot be underestimated. Indeed, depending on the coordinated and high-quality work of specialists, the result of carrying out combat and strategic missions directly depends. The difficulty is that the distances can sometimes be very large between the ship and land. And it is signalmen and radio technicians who continuously protect our country. To maintain a high level of performance, employees undergo regular training and camps to increase their existing knowledge. In Peterhof there is a well-known university that trains specialists for the Russian Navy - the Higher Naval School of Radio Engineering named after. A.S.Popova. Every year, all employees of the Russian Navy communications and radio engineering units celebrate the holiday and solemnly accept congratulations from the leadership. Especially distinguished employees receive state awards and valuable memorable gifts for their efforts.
International Planetarium Day first appeared in Italy in 1995. It was conceived by the Association of Italian Planetariums and became a truly international day when, 4 years later, it was supported by the French, and a year later it was picked up by a number of European countries: Poland, Belgium, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine. Today, this day is celebrated in the United States of America and Australia, and continues to spread throughout the globe. Many places use planetarium day as the launch of special programs and events for the public. It was originally scheduled for the last Sunday before the spring equinox, but the date was later changed to the second Sunday in March, allowing space observers to easily plan their events in advance. In 2023-2025, on the eve of the centenary of the opening of the first Zeiss planetarium at the Deutsches Museum in Munich (May 7, 1925), it is proposed to celebrate International Planetarium Day on May 7. The holiday was created: 1. inform the public about the work of planetariums, what they are and why they exist;2. to inform the public about light pollution problems;3. in order to promote international exchanges and cooperation between space centers of different countries;4. to highlight the important work of the International Planetarium Society. On this day, shows, lessons, forecasts, exhibitions and public viewings of the starry sky are organized everywhere. All astronomical centers, regardless of affiliation, take part in the holiday. The services they usually provide to the public are strongly encouraged to be made free of charge. Partnership can be expressed by bringing together people from different countries under one dome. To take part in this, a planetarium in one country collaborates with colleagues of a similar observation facility in another place in the world. For example, a planetarium from an Italian city will work with colleagues from a city in Africa. Why is the work of planetariums so important? In today's polluted world, many people have lost touch with the stars. Only a few in big cities, and even in some rural areas, can recognize the distant star of the Milky Way. Planetariums were created to "capture the stars" and bring them closer to Earth so that everyone could enjoy them and learn their secrets. According to the latest unofficial data, every year 144 million people visit the 4,145 planetariums in the world. The goal of the international day is to increase this number through awareness, exploration of the stars, space and astronomy.

On May 7 (April 24 according to the old calendar style) people celebrate Evsey - Oats off. The first part of the name of the holiday is borrowed from the church calendar - on this day they honor the memory of the holy martyr Eusebius, who suffered for his faith in Christ in the 4th century. Eusebius was an idolater. When he was present at the torture of St. George the Victorious, he believed in the Lord and accepted Christianity. Together with him, 43 other pagans believed, but these were hours of Christian persecution, so they were taken into custody. Emperor Diocletian ordered all prisoners to make sacrifices to the pagan gods, but Eusebius and the others refused. At first they were beaten painfully with rods, but, failing to achieve worship, they all cut off their heads. The people nicknamed the day Evsei - Oats off, since this day was considered the last in the period of sowing oats. And the beginning of such a period was marked by the flowering of the birch tree and the appearance of winged ants. The work day on Yevsey was difficult, because the residents had to sow all the remaining land for oats before sunset. They sowed oats even in rainy weather; sowing later was unacceptable. Often after Evseyev Day there was a temporary cold snap for 12 days. To ensure a generous harvest of oats, in some regions housewives set the table using oats in dishes. The main things on the table were bread and oatmeal porridge. Sweets included oatmeal cookies and pancakes seasoned with honey. Neighbors were invited to such feasts, or food from the table was treated to the poor. In the evening, the peasants organized folk festivities. Residents called musicians, lit bonfires, sang, danced and played. Young people gathered in groups, boys and girls looked closely at each other. But the healers on Yevsey performed ceremonies for invoking the spring season. It happened that residents were attacked by “mayata”. This was the name for the state when the soul was in a spring mood, one didn’t want to work at all, and the body lazily wanted to lie down on the grass. Then the peasants washed themselves with blessed water and drank several sips of it. Signs about Yevsey pointed the people to the future. If a lot of mosquitoes were observed, then a generous oat yield was expected. Sowing grain on a rainy day resulted in an abundance of weeds. A golden sunset foreshadowed clear weather for the coming days. Darkened low clouds on this day promised the onset of a thunderstorm.
The population of our planet is growing every day; experts say that it is increasing at a tremendous pace. Along with the population, the number of people susceptible to various chronic diseases is growing. The ecology of our planet is not ideal, especially dirty ecological places - these are large cities in which production, exhaust gases from cars, as well as various types of garbage that people leave behind are concentrated. This, naturally, does not contribute to the improvement of humanity. One of the scourges of modern society is a disease such as asthma. Literally, the word “asthma” is translated from Greek as “heavy breathing”; this word was introduced into medical terminology by Hippocrates. This effect occurs in the body in response to a stimulus - physical, chemical or biological. In the modern world, asthma refers to any manifestations of human suffocation. Thus, asthma is considered an allergic disease. The trouble is that the environmental situation in the world is not conducive to improving the lives of asthmatics. Therefore, since 1998, with the support of the World Health Organization, the whole world has been concerned about the problems of asthmatics on the first Tuesday in May. Under the auspices of the Global Initiative on Asthma, on this day a huge number of problems are raised related to making the lives of people who are susceptible to this disease easier, and ways to solve them are discussed. It has been statistically established that today more than 300 million people around the world suffer from this disease, and the saddest thing is that every ten years, this number of people increases by one and a half times. This is a very insidious disease that is quite difficult to diagnose. Often it goes unnoticed, symptomatically resembling completely different diseases. The unfortunate thing is that most of the patients are children under 10 years old. That is why the problem of people who suffer from asthma - and one of its varieties, bronchial asthma, is of interest to most doctors in the modern world. Every literate person can find out what asthma is, why it is dangerous, and help prevent its development in their own body - after all, the sooner you recognize the enemy, the easier it is to arm yourself against it and protect yourself from its manifestations. It is for this purpose that a day is organized every first Tuesday in May, which attracts the public to this disease. World Asthma Day is designed to help people, parents of sick children; on this day you can participate in various conferences, forums or seminars and learn a lot of useful and necessary information for yourself and others related to how to fight this insidious disease or make life easier people who are exposed to it.
Orthodox holidays on May 7:
The Orthodox Church honors the memory of the martyr Sava Stratelates on May 7. Saint Sava lived in the 3rd century and descended from the Gothic tribe. Despite his barbarian roots, he became a military leader in the army of the Great Roman Empire. For his courage and exploits in battle, Savva received the rank of stratilate and led the infantry. Fierce battles did not make the saint’s soul callous; he joyfully accepted the Good News of the Resurrection of the Lord and began to believe in Christ with all his heart. Being a stratilate, he could visit the dungeons where his brothers and sisters in faith suffered and alleviate their suffering. For his sincere faith and charitable life, the Lord endowed Savva with the power to expel an unclean spirit and heal the possessed. The fame of the saint’s abilities reached the emperor Aurelian, who was distinguished by his intolerance towards Christians. The ruler ordered the commander of his army to be brought to him and interrogated him. Stratilates did not hide his faith in Jesus Christ, and said that no threats or torments would force him to betray his Christian beliefs. During his speech, the saint threw off his stratelate belt, showing that even his military merits were insignificant compared to the true power that he acquired by believing in Jesus. Aurelian ordered Savva to be tested and the saint was subjected to severe torture. After beatings and torture by fire, it was decided to immerse the body of the brave military leader in a vat of boiling resin. But at that moment the Lord showed His mercy and everyone saw that the martyr remained unharmed. Having seen such a miracle, seventy soldiers believed in the Savior and began to praise Jesus. The enraged emperor ordered the execution of everyone who admitted to being a Christian. After the execution of the soldiers, Savva was taken into custody, where the Lord himself appeared to his follower with words of reassurance. The saint came to the next interrogation even more inspired by his faith, and the tormentors saw that neither threats, nor suffering, nor false promises would force Savva to turn away from Christianity and recognize pagan idols as true gods. Then, by order of the emperor, the stratilate was thrown into the river, where he accepted his martyrdom in the name of the Lord. Among the people, May 7 was a remarkable day in its own way. Peasants performed a plowing ritual intended to ensure fertility. Harnessed oxen were driven around the sown fields, making a furrow, and then they walked to the songs and music of buffoons. There were also special weather signs on the day of the martyr Sava: - the appearance of winged ants suggested that it was time to sow oats; - a yellow dawn promised dry, warm weather for the near future; - light and dark corollas around the stars indicated imminent rains.
Feast of the Molchenskaya Icon of the Mother of God
The Easter holiday among Orthodox believers lasts a whole week, which is called Bright Week. Each year it falls on different dates in April and May, starting immediately after the Resurrection of Christ and ending on Krasnaya Gorka. Divine services in churches in honor of the holiday are held with the Royal Doors open, joyful church chants and bells are constantly heard. All believers are allowed to call them at any time of the day for seven days. Baptisms, weddings and funeral services are not held on Bright Week. After the liturgy, a procession of the cross takes place around the temple. Bright Week is dedicated to doing good deeds - helping others, which includes giving alms to the poor and needy. It was believed that these days the Lord and the apostles wander the earth under the guise of beggars, so donations take on a special meaning. Orthodox Christians try to give up hard work, which is not associated with celebration and fun, and, if possible, perform simple household chores. Throughout Bright Week, also called Easter, the greeting “Christ is Risen!” is heard. The origins of such a long celebration lie in the Bible and religious canons. So, according to the Old Testament, God needed 7 days to create the world and man. Bright Week passes “as one day,” which symbolizes eternal salvation. Each day of Easter week is unique and, according to folk traditions, has a name and rules of celebration. In honor of the holiday, our ancestors went on this day to visit relatives and friends with cottage cheese Easter cakes, Easter cakes on dough with candied fruits and raisins, as well as colored eggs. This promised the owners of the house good luck and prosperity throughout the year until next Easter. On this day, girls gave colored eggs to the boys, and they doused them with water to make their lovers even more beautiful and healthy. Each religious procession around the temple after the service ends with the sprinkling of the believers. On Wet Monday, young and old alike poured themselves at wells and springs to improve their health and wash away illness. In honor of the holiday, latecomers were doused with cold water during morning prayer, as it was believed that absence from church for the liturgy could bring trouble to the family. Women went to visit with Easter cakes and eggs, while men and children stayed at home to farm. On Tuesday, like other days, it is forbidden to swear, overeat and drink a lot of alcohol. Throughout Bright Week, it is customary to read the troparion, kontakion and ipaka of the Hours of Easter. Visiting cemeteries and commemorating the dead is not encouraged. On this day, various fun activities were arranged, swinging on a swing, which, according to popular belief, was supposed to remove all negativity from a person. The girls danced in circles and sang songs. Wednesday was also called "Gradova". It was believed that hard work done on this day could cause hail and destroy the harvest. On Bright Wednesday, candles were placed in churches to protect crops from this natural phenomenon. On this day, the ban on remembering the dead was lifted, but this had to be done without grief, with light sadness. To visit the souls of the dead, doors were opened wide and towels hung on the windows. According to tradition, they went to cemeteries and left Easter eggs and colored eggs there on the graves. The ancient Slavs called Thursday “Navsky” because of the symbolic arrival of the departed from the world of Navi. Bridal viewings were held in the villages. The girls dressed up in their best clothes, the guys put on beautiful shirts. In addition to the shows, spring calls were traditionally held. The girls climbed the hills and hills and invited the warm sun, which would give a good harvest. On this day, it is customary to make peace and forgive offenders. On Bright Friday, the icon of the Mother of God “Life-Giving Spring” is venerated, so the church illuminates the believers with water and sprinkles the gardens and orchards with it. Relatives come to the homes of recently married couples. The young hostess sets the table and generously treats the guests. On Bright Friday, girls wash their faces with ice water to preserve their beauty. On this day, after the service, believers are given special bread with the image of a cross - artos. Pieces of it are kept at home near the icons until next Easter. Artos is given little by little to a sick person for healing. On the evening of Bright Saturday, the Royal Doors in the temple are closed. On this joyful and festive day, any work is postponed, people take to the streets and take part in noisy festivities. The ancient Slavs completed all rituals dedicated to the arrival of spring. On the first Sunday after Easter, Thomas met with the resurrected Jesus, hence the name of this day according to Christian traditions.
