Holidays 8 june
Every year on June 8, Russia celebrates Social Worker Day. This holiday appeared in our country not so long ago. In October 2000, the President signed a Decree setting the date of establishment. The day was not chosen by chance. On June 8, 1701, Peter the Great issued a decree according to which in medical institutions, nursing homes and shelters there was one person for every 10 patients. His duties included caring for the sick for a fee. This tradition continued until 1917. After the revolution, when tsarist power passed into the hands of the people, the responsibility to help those in need was distributed to all kinds of institutions: orderlies, nurses, doctors in hospitals, teachers in orphanages, workers in social support services for the population, various mutual aid committees at industrial enterprises, combatants, “ Timurovites" in educational institutions (schoolchildren providing assistance to the elderly and relatives of military personnel). Society was designed in such a way that citizens helped each other. Therefore, the need for a special employee disappeared by itself. The revival of the specialty of a social worker in the state occurred in the 90s of the last century. Since 1992, training in this profession has been taking place in institutes and universities. This specialty is one of the most significant for the country, which provides care to the neediest residents. It is very important to provide support to elderly, sick and lonely citizens, to resolve complex issues in schools, to fill the leisure time of teenagers by opening thematic clubs for various interests, to help those who have been released adapt to life, and to inform people about their benefits and rights. Today in Russia there are special organizations for social assistance and services to citizens. More than 630 thousand people work in this area, about 26 million people use their services, in particular 15 million elderly people and people with disabilities. Doing this work requires a great deal of kind heart, patience, sensitivity and compassion. Only people with high morality are capable of such work. After all, this specialty requires a combination of a lot: skills in medicine, law, psychology. At the same time, you need to have a sense of humor, creativity, be able to contact different people, listen to them carefully, find a common language, and the right words of support. Kindness and compassion are the main qualities of a social worker. Both in our country and in other countries, where most modern citizens have become hardened and indifferent to others, this specialty is becoming very important, acting as a bridge of trust, understanding and mercy between residents. Social Worker Day allows these kind, caring people to get together, talk about the most important topics and just have a good time, because tomorrow they will once again take care of everyone who needs help.
Every year on June 8, Karelia celebrates the traditional Republic Day, which is an official holiday. The celebration begins in the distant 1920. On June 8, 1920, the official document of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee “On the formation of the Karelian Labor Commune” was signed, which gave the people the right to self-determination and proclaim the statehood of the Republic of Karelia. The territorial composition of the Karelian Republic finally defined its borders and acquired the status of an independent region, preserving traditions, culture and language. Later in 1999, the Chairman of the regional government gave approval and signed legislative act No. 346 “On the establishment of the Day of the Republic of Karelia.” The adoption of this law was due to the proclamation of Sergei Katanandov to the post of governor. It was he who sought to attract investment to the region on the eve of a major republican event. The funds raised were used for the construction and reconstruction of large facilities, the arrangement of kindergartens, hospitals, and other public places for social purposes. The choice of the day and month of the holiday is determined by weather conditions. In summer it is warm in Karelia, which will allow more guests to come. Karelia has a developed industrial base, among which the metallurgical and woodworking industries, mining, and paper industry predominate. However, most Russians perceive Karelia as a beautiful northern region with charming landscapes. From year to year the flow of tourists wishing to spend their holidays in the Republic is increasing. Particularly popular are water, auto and bicycle tourism, fishing and hunting. Lakes Onega and Ladoga allow tourists to take cruises on ships in the summer. In winter, Karelia attracts with skiing, snowmobiling, reindeer and dog sledding. During the reign of Alexander Khudilainen, the celebration of Republic Day began to take place in different regions of the republic alternately. Local authorities of the republican subjects received the innovation with delight. This made it possible to attract additional funding to the districts, and therefore, the opportunity arose for reconstruction, construction of new buildings, and landscaping of territories. So, on the eve of the republican holiday, large cinemas, libraries, and hospitals were built. The holiday gradually received the status of “folk”. Among the places where festive events are held one can name the settlement of Pryazha, located on the shore of Lake Pryazhinskoye, the cities of Kondopoga, Sortavala, Kostomuksha, Olonets. On its birthday, Karelia is traditionally visited by famous, important guests from Moscow and thousands of ordinary people from various regions. The festive program is enriched and improved every year. There are all kinds of exhibitions, pop concert programs, presentations of know-how achievements, and all kinds of design technologies.
In the large family of environmental holidays, we can highlight one of the most significant - World Oceans Day. The importance of the event, which received the status of an official holiday back in 2008, is difficult to overestimate. After all, the World Ocean accounts for neither more nor less - 70% of the entire surface of our planet. We can say that we live inside a huge water system, without which life is impossible. The element of boundless waters is represented by four famous oceans - the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian and Arctic. And thanks to recent research, scientists have unofficially identified a fifth one - the Southern Ocean, located at the intersection of the currents of three oceans, differing from them in its microclimate and ecosystem. Oceanologists devote their lives for the benefit of all inhabitants of the Earth, because their complex, sometimes dangerous, but very interesting work makes it possible to assess the state of the world's waters, their impact on other systems, as well as monitor the results of human activity and the problems associated with it. The idea to give the holiday official status arose back in 1992, it happened at an environmental summit in the capital of Brazil - Rio de Janeiro, where the Declaration on Environment and Development was adopted and signed - a fundamental document regulating humanity’s activities in relation to nature and environmental aspects of interaction . The participants of this large-scale event came to a consensus on the need to highlight this day, but many years passed before the holiday changed its status to official and received a name. For 17 years, the world community had been waiting for this event and, finally, in 2009, through the UN General Assembly, June 8 was declared International Oceans Day. It is worth noting that the holiday, which is under the auspices of the UN, has a specific theme that changes from year to year. This is due to the fact that in a dynamic world, subject to the constant influence of anthropogenic factors, new environmental or environmental problems appear that require mandatory solutions. After all, everything on the planet is interconnected and deterioration in one of the elements can lead to changes in another and even a full-scale environmental disaster. The themes of the celebration in different years were: - humanity’s responsibility for the state of the World Ocean; - opportunities and challenges in using the ocean ecosystem; - the revival of the oceans and the impact on the future; - youth participation in the protection and preservation of the resources of the World Ocean; - interaction between man and the ocean; - the impact of the state of the water system on our planet and others. Every year, various international conferences, seminars, scientific forums, and events dedicated to environmental problems and water resource conservation are held. An officially recognized holiday allows us to coordinate the efforts of specialists associated with the ocean system and its inhabitants from different parts of the world. And the problems voiced at events within individual states and the world as a whole, dedicated to this important day, make it possible to attract the attention of the general public and all humanity to acute environmental problems related to the World Ocean.
In 2005, a cat dressed in a vest appeared on the eaves of one of the houses on Pravda Street. His name was Tishka Matroskin. He was “seated” there by the well-known “Mitki” - a group of St. Petersburg artists. Later, when the Mitkov workshop moved to Marata Street, Tishka also moved there. And before that, back in 1999, his predecessors, Elisha and Vasilisa, appeared on the facades of houses on Malaya Sadovaya. Since 2005, June 8 is celebrated as World St. Petersburg Cat Day. The holiday is purely urban and the definition of “worldwide” appeared, apparently, for greater importance. On this day, all St. Petersburg cats are necessarily pampered with something tasty, and they try to let those with “cat” surnames leave work early. In 2011, Europe's first cat café and boarding house for retired cats from the Hermitage opened in St. Petersburg. From this moment on, the holiday takes place on a special scale, although it does not have an official status. The main events take place on Konnogvardesky Boulevard, which on this day is renamed KOTOgvardesky. The holiday is accompanied by numerous events with the obligatory cat parade, in which thousands of people and their pets take part. On this day, many homeless cats from shelters find new caring owners. It is also not forbidden to enter the cafe with your pets, where you can pamper them with something tasty from a special menu. St. Petersburg schools host photo sessions with cats, various matinees and exciting quizzes. The city hosts numerous theatrical performances and charity events. Television is not left out either. In St. Petersburg there is another spring holiday dedicated to cats and cats. This is the Day of the Hermitage Cats. They perform an honorable mission, protecting the museum's basements from rodents. No one has yet come up with more reliable protection.
Raising children, creating and maintaining a comfortable and cozy atmosphere in the house is no less important than earning money for the needs of the family. Washing, cooking, cleaning and ironing, monitoring school assignments, visits with the child to the doctor and to sports clubs... All this is performed by a woman, whose role in maintaining order and harmony in the family can hardly be overestimated. A housewife is also a reliable support for her husband, his protection and rear. But increasingly, in modern realities, men are starting to take care of everyday life. June 8th is International Housewife and Housewife Day. The initiator of the funny holiday was a resident of Mexico, Gabriela Delgado, an employee of the National Institute of Women. She said people who do domestic work every day are not valued enough. This is because few people understand how much effort women spend doing housework. It is enough to analyze the following figures:• in an average family of 3-4 people, 5 tons of dishes are washed per year;• washing and ironing clothes and linen takes 200 hours;• mopping floors - about 4 days;• standing at the stove to cook food takes 10-12 hours. Statisticians from the USA have calculated that the monthly cost of work performed by a housewife is 11 thousand dollars. Of course, no one pays women to do what has traditionally been considered their responsibility for centuries. Therefore, International Housewives Day is an occasion to pay tribute to the titanic work of maintaining cleanliness and order in the house. The holiday calls on everyone who highly values the contribution of women and men who devote themselves to organizing everyday life to give loved ones a gift. This could be modern technology that will make life easier for a housewife - the latest model of vacuum cleaner, dishwasher or steam ironing system. Over time, not only representatives of the fairer sex, but also men joined Gabriela Delgado’s initiative. Today they go on maternity leave if a woman does not want to interrupt her career, and take care of everyday life and raising children. For Scandinavian countries this has long become the norm. Thus, in 2019, 46% of Swedish citizens who went on maternity leave were men. The first homeowners' club was created in Italy in 2005. Its members not only organize meetings of interests, but also attend classes in cleaning, cooking and economical housekeeping. International Day of the Housewife and Homemaker is designed to celebrate the life choices and dedication of women. Therefore, an unusual holiday has taken root in society, which is celebrated annually on June 8th.
International holidays - World Brain Tumor Day
Since ancient times, brooms and brooms have been used to clean up trash. The rapid pace of industrial growth in the mid-19th century, the transition from manual labor to mechanized labor, led to the opening of a large number of factories and factories. The transformation of an agricultural society into an industrial one affected the state of the environment. Brooms could not cope with soot and dust flying in the air and settling on surfaces, as well as with mites and pathogenic bacteria. This was the impetus for the invention in 1869 by Ives W. McGaffney of a unit for collecting small debris. In honor of this event, the birthday of the vacuum cleaner is celebrated annually on June 8th. Almost 10 years before McGaffney’s invention, another American, Iowa resident Daniel Hess, came up with a device he called the “automatic carpet sweeper.” The complex structure consisted of a water tank, air bellows and rotating brushes. Hess did not come up with what the “sweeper” would operate, so the idea did not find its practical application, being embodied only on paper in the form of drawings. Unlike McGaffney, who patented and assembled a vacuum cleaner on June 8, 1869, called the Whirlwind. The unit worked with the help of a fan, the blades of which had to be turned manually. The prototype of a modern vacuum cleaner cost $25, which was quite expensive for that time. The device handled dust well on smooth and fleecy surfaces, cleaning carpets well. The fan blades of the McGaffney unit had to be smoked by hand, which was not very popular with potential consumers. At the end of the 19th century. A vacuum cleaner powered by gasoline was invented. This unit by inventor John Thorman filled the house with noise and exhaust gases, so it also did not become widespread. In 1900, Georgia resident Corinne Dufour invented and patented an electrically powered carpet cleaning device. The vacuum cleaner was heavy, bulky and inconvenient to transport. Only in 1910 did another inventor from the USA, P.A. Fisker managed to reduce the weight of the electrical device to a record 17.5 kg. However, mass production of household vacuum cleaners was still a long way off. In 1901, a device called the Snorting Billy appeared on the UK market. The giant vacuum cleaner was driven by a horse-drawn carriage, which was installed under the windows of the house. The cleaning of premises with its help was ordered by the British military and aristocrats who lived in castles, as well as the royal family to clean one of the palaces. Snorting Billy's roar and whistle irritated Londoners and frightened horses. Its bulky design required the participation of at least four trained workers in cleaning the premises. And the average consumer needed compact and convenient household appliances. Therefore, the American Jim Kirby modernized the McGaffney vacuum cleaner, adding a water filter and an electric fan. He also came up with telescopic tubes for brushes and replaceable heads. This patent was adopted by General Electric, immortalizing the name of the inventor in the name of one of the vacuum cleaner models - Kirby. Another US resident, James Murray Springler, came up with a device without a water filter. In his compact device, dust settled on the walls of a special bag. From that moment on, mass production of vacuum cleaners began. Modern devices are characterized by high functionality, low weight and dimensions. Household vacuum cleaners for cleaning a house or apartment can easily fit in a closet or pantry. Industrial units, due to their high power, have impressive dimensions, but are still not comparable to the devices that were used at the beginning of the twentieth century. were powered by horse traction. Paying tribute to this important invention for humanity, the birthday of the vacuum cleaner is celebrated on June 8th.
According to the folk calendar, Karp Karpolov is celebrated on June 8 (May 26, old style). Carp the holiday is named after the apostle of the 70 - Saint Carp, whose memory is honored by the Orthodox Church on this day. The story of Saint Carp took place in the 1st century. He was a disciple of the Apostle Paul, and later spread the Christian faith among Gentiles. For his kindness, mercy and perseverance, Karp was elevated to the rank of bishop in Beria of Thracia. Karp ended his life at a ripe old age; other sources state that the saint was killed by the Jews for preaching about Christ. Among the people, the name of Saint Carp was similar to the name of the fish - carp. There was a tradition on this day to go to the pond and fish, believing that the saint would help catch a lot of fish. The carp itself was considered a particularly valuable catch, as it brought good luck to the fisherman. That’s why the day was nicknamed Karpolov. If a thing or kitchen utensil with an unpleasant odor appeared on the farm, it was taken outside under a rosehip bush. They believed that its aroma could get rid of bad odors. The residents themselves also inhaled the aroma of blooming rose hips, believing that it would improve health and cure diseases. On this day, the peasants called a stove maker into their house - a master who knew how to repair stoves. He checked them, repaired them if necessary. The comfort in the home depended on the quality of its work, since poorly repaired stoves could let smoke into the room. After checking, the stove maker was thanked, and the housewives treated him to a freshly baked loaf. A piece of loaf was thrown into the corner of the oven for the brownie - the domestic spirit of order and economy, so that he would not be angry for the disturbed peace. If insects became more annoying on Carp Day, then residents expected rainy weather. Loudly croaking frogs also heralded rain. The damp air outside promised inclement weather. Observing the abundance of sorrel on a given day, we were preparing for a warm summer.
