The construction of such a monumental structure for its time was timed to coincide with the World Industrial Exhibition. The official opening of the tower, designed by engineer Gustav Eiffel, took place on March 31. At the opening, the creator personally hoisted the French flag on its top. Therefore, on this day they celebrate Eiffel Tower Day - Eiffel Tower Day.
