The Chernobyl accident, the depletion of natural resources, and the sharp deterioration of the environment led to the establishment of a solemn day dedicated to environmental protection The decision was made by the Government of the Russian Federation on June 11, 1996 The initiators of environmental events were public organizations and the Ministry of Nature The Russian experience of attracting the attention of the state and the public to the problem of protecting nature from the negative influence of humans has been adopted by the Czech Republic, China and other countries Promotions, lectures, seminars, round tables and exhibitions are held from April 15 to June 5 under the motto “Ecology - Safety - Life” During this period there are many holidays of a similar focus: Earth Day, International Climate Day, March of Parks, International Day of Remembrance of the Chernobyl Disaster, Environmental Education Day, etc Each of them, to one degree or another, at the regional or global level, addresses the problem of wildlife pollution as a result of human activity Active participants in the Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards, starting on April 15, are nature reserves, national parks, environmental societies, foundations, museums, libraries and educational organizations Over the 20 years of existence of the holiday, traditions have formed - conferences, lectures and competitions dedicated to the state of the environment are held by professionals and simply caring people The initiators of Protection Days attract school and university students to participate in them, thus contributing to the formation of healthy thinking and a responsible attitude towards nature among the younger generation In honor of the holiday, cleanup days are organized in many regions of the Russian Federation, during which not only local areas and city streets, but also public gardens, parks, forests and reservoirs are cleared of garbage Some events to protect nature are held online Thus, everyone is invited to take a virtual tour of environmental education centers and take part in surveys and competitions held on the Internet Such events give a new impetus to the formation in the minds of people of a responsible attitude towards living and inanimate nature The streets of populated areas become the venue for flash mobs and events, and for the distribution of environmentally themed literature The joint efforts of professionals, the public and government agencies help to achieve solutions to environmental pollution problems, both at the level of individual regions and throughout the world Days of protection from environmental hazards encourage people to live in love and harmony with nature, part of which is the “crown of creation” - man
