On this day, Orthodox Christians pray in memory of Raisa (née Iraida) of Alexandria, the holy great martyr who voluntarily accepted suffering and death for Christ. On Iraida Spornaya, women prepared a special type of baked goods - liqueurs. They were a kind of cheesecakes made from rye flour, stuffed with boiled potatoes with butter, egg and milk. Also on this day they told fortunes about financial well-being.
