Holidays 18 october
Achieving inner balance and happiness are important life resources that are necessary to unlock human potential. A woman’s self-realization in the role of mother and wife is no less important than her achievement of creative heights or career growth. Representatives of the fair half of humanity generously share their delight in having their hopes and desires come true with those around them. Women's Happiness Day is celebrated three times a year: February 21, June 11 and October 18. This holiday is a celebration of love, harmony, joy and self-realization. There is no one-size-fits-all recipe for happiness. One woman dreams of getting married, another - having a child, a third - organizing an exhibition of her paintings, and a fourth - going on a trip around the world. All these goals are real and quite achievable if you follow the simple advice of psychologists: • love yourself - remember that nature created you unique and inimitable, stop worrying about not meeting the beauty standards of the modern world imposed by mass culture; • start paying more attention to your needs; work and family can sometimes wait; • stop communicating with toxic people - learn to say “no”, defending personal boundaries; • use your feminine strength instead of male behavior patterns - charm, sensuality and empathy to achieve goals; • find yourself a hobby or a place of strength - hobbies and being in the company of a close friend are the components of happiness. March 20th is the International Day of Happiness. The solemn date was established by the UN in 2012. However, it is World Women's Happiness Day that is used to celebrate the personal achievements of the fair half of humanity. Each representative of the fairer sex has her own values that she protects and goals that she strives for. In Russian culture, family comes first in a woman’s life. The husband and children are, of course, a very important resource that confirms the implementation of the most important function - procreation. However, a friendly family, prosperity and comfort in the home are not all that a woman needs to be happy. Personal achievements in the professional sphere, creativity and other areas of life where she can demonstrate her talents and abilities are important to her. World Women's Happiness Day emphasizes the importance of self-realization of the fair half of humanity. On October 18, on World Women's Happiness Day, it is customary to give flowers and gifts, to say pleasant words to mothers and grandmothers, sisters and friends, instilling in them optimism and faith in the future. On this day, stories are published, posts are posted and thematic videos are posted on social networks. Share the story of your achievements with other girls and women, inspire them with your own example and instill faith that happiness is achievable!
Tie Day is celebrated every year on October 18th. It is believed that it began to be celebrated in Croatia, because it was in this country that the prototype of this accessory, familiar to the official style of men, appeared. At first, men wore bright silk scarves - this was back in the era of Cardinal Richelieu. By chance, Parisian fashionistas saw a new wardrobe item. They liked the unusual accessory of the Croatian military costume. Within a short time, neckerchiefs appeared in the wardrobe of the French, they began to be called “cravate”. Translated from French, this word means “Croatian”. Later, the root of this word became the basis for the name of a new wardrobe element in many European countries. For example, in Ukraine a tie is called a “kravatka”. In Russia, the name comes from the German version - “halstuch”. After France, the fashion for ties began to spread even more rapidly - it most quickly touched prim England. Here I liked the accessory so much that wearing it was elevated to a special ritual. It was the British who began to experiment with the shape and length of a new wardrobe element and began to come up with various options for tying it. The neck scarf gradually transformed into the familiar strip of fabric, beautifully processed and having different widths along its entire length. Tie Day has been celebrated at the national level in Croatia since 2003. France and England also treat this holiday with trepidation. On social networks, the day is also celebrated on a special scale - people are invited to quizzes, where they need to show dexterity and ingenuity in tying tie knots correctly. The scope of celebrations in Croatia has become so large that even on monuments you can see this accessory of the official style of clothing for men. It is always scarlet - this is exactly what the Croatian military wore in the Middle Ages. The honor guard in the main guard unit of Croatia also wears a neckerchief. Four interesting facts about ties: 1. The collector of this piece of clothing is called a grabologist. 2. The accessory is worn by only 10% of the world's population. 3. The most expensive tie in the world costs 220 thousand dollars. Such a high price is justified by the presence of jewelry made from 271 diamonds and about 150 grams of gold. 4. One silk product will require about 150 silkworm cocoons.
In 1570, Ivan the Terrible recruited the Don Cossack Army into service. Cossacks from the Kuban, Don and Zaporozhye Sich took part in the battles for Astrakhan and Kazan, and went on military campaigns against Moscow during the Polish-Lithuanian intervention. The Battle of Leipzig, which took place in October 1813, is considered one of the largest in the Napoleonic Wars.
A universal and popular wardrobe item in the form of tights with cut off socks appeared at the beginning of the 15th century. Women and men living in the forests of North America wore two separate trouser legs made of leather or thick fabric on their legs to protect them from snake bites and thorns.
Among the characters of Slavic folklore there are often magicians and sorcerers who work miracles and have the gift of prophecy. According to legends, sorcerers could not only look into the future, but also charm the elements, communicate with spirits, and heal the sick.
The reproductive functions of the ovaries and the hormonal background of women undergo modifications closer to the middle of life. The menopausal period is accompanied by the cessation of the menstrual cycle, which makes it impossible to conceive and give birth to a child. The average age of onset of changes in the body in women is 46-55 years. Hormonal changes are accompanied by mood swings, forgetfulness, hot flashes, decreased libido, sleep problems, sweating and weight gain. World Menopause Day was established to raise awareness among women and improve their health during the decline of reproductive function. Events in honor of World Menopause Day are held on the initiative of WHO and the international organization International Menopause Society, founded in 1978 in the UK. Every year on October 18, events are held to prevent the development of osteoporosis and associated bone fractures in women. Their fragility during menopause is associated with a lack of estrogen. These hormones function as regulators of metabolism in bone tissue. In middle and old age, fractures heal poorly. Hormonal and non-hormonal therapy (take phytoestrogens and progestins of plant origin) helps prevent the onset of osteoporosis. A consequence of the onset of menopause is also sarcopenia - loss of body weight and decrease in muscle volume. This diagnosis is made by 57% of women over 50 years of age. Sarcopenia is associated with metabolic disorders in muscle and bone tissue. To reduce the risk of falls due to underweight, hormonal therapy, vitamins and microelements are also prescribed to strengthen bone tissue. The timing of menopause is different for each woman. This is due to genetic predisposition, body mass index, problems in the endocrine system, hereditary diseases and other factors. The sooner a woman consults a doctor, the easier she will cope with age-related changes and prevent the undesirable consequences of meponapuse. Thus, thanks to densitometry (examination to determine bone mineral density and calcium content), osteoporosis and bone fractures can be avoided. Reflexology - acupuncture, breathing exercises, yoga - helps stabilize a woman’s condition during menopause. Exercises help improve your emotional state and keep yourself in good shape. Acupuncture and other eastern techniques reduce the symptoms of menopause. Every year World Menopause Day is dedicated to a specific theme. In 2019, the main research question was “Testosterone use in middle-aged women”, in 2020 - “Premature ovarian failure”, 2022 - “Cognitive function and mood”. Information materials and scientific developments on the topics become the basis of the White Book and are published in the scientific journal Climacteric.
The deification of nature in pagan beliefs is associated with the dependence of the life of ancient people on the phenomena of the surrounding world - the forces of the elements, weather, etc. The owner of dense forests and the ruler of animals is often depicted as a creature with the head of a man and the body of an animal, with a deer, wolf or bull standing near legs
October 18 is the Day of the Holy Martyr Charitina, a true Christian with a kind heart and enormous faith in the Lord God. For all craftswomen, Saint Charitina is the patroness of weavers. On this day, women and girls began to weave canvas. The first thread that came out of the weaver's hands was considered sacred, protecting against the evil eye.
The countries of the Middle East and the Caucasus region are the birthplace of halva, lokum, kozinaki, baklava, nougat, grillage, parvarda and other desserts. World Candy Day, celebrated annually on October 18, is the main holiday for all those with a sweet tooth. But it is celebrated not only by lovers of sweet treats, but also by those involved in their production. Therefore, on this day you can do the following: 1. Congratulate familiar confectioners, employees of companies producing candies and other sweets.2. Learn interesting facts from the history of the appearance of sweets.3. Treat yourself to your favorite delicacy and treat your friends and relatives to it. It is no longer possible to track the moment the sweets appeared, but according to one version, their homeland is Ancient Egypt. And this happened by accident, as in the case of many other culinary masterpieces. Some Egyptian simply knocked over the vessels with honey, nuts and figs. The contents of the vessels were mixed, but they did not throw it away. After all, the resulting mixture had a wonderful taste. According to the official version, the appearance of sweets dates back to the 17th century. But then they were considered not a delicacy, but a medicine. Sweets were sold in pharmacies as a remedy for coughs, insomnia and nervous disorders, for vigor and quick recovery from illness. But the patients liked the sweet medicine so much that they soon began to sell it in regular stores. Later, confectioners began to make them, developing their own unique recipes, which were kept secret from competitors. The traditional ingredients of sweets are crushed dried fruits and nuts, as well as honey and sugar. A Belgian pharmacist began using chocolate for their production in 1857. But long before that, candy was made in Rus' using maple syrup and honey. At that time, all sweets without exception were made exclusively by hand, which allowed craftsmen to show their imagination. This is how the classic lollipops in the shape of cockerels appeared. In the twentieth century, candy production became widespread. This has led to a reduction in the cost of such sweets and their greater availability to all segments of the population. But mass production resulted in the fact that the candies became less natural and began to contain artificial flavors, preservatives and dyes. As a result, they turned from a clearly useful delicacy into one that brings no benefit to the body at all. The exception is natural products, but they are more expensive than regular chocolates. Today, in many countries, on World Candy Day, thematic events are held: master classes on creating handmade sweets, exhibitions, lectures. Confectioners and manufacturing companies take part in them. Such delicacies leave no one indifferent. Some avoid them, considering them to be definitely harmful, while others cannot imagine drinking tea without their favorite chocolates, toffees, lollipops, caramels or marmalade. Children especially love candy; girls and boys from all over the world are unanimous about this.
