Holidays 17 october
Every person periodically encounters a local doctor. This generalist provides medical care to the population when the first signs of the disease appear. After diagnosing and determining the nature of the pathology, the doctor decides to refer the patient to a specialist. October 17 in Russia is considered the Day of the Local Therapist. This professional holiday is celebrated by doctors who provide primary medical care to people in public clinics and private centers. Therapists are general doctors. They have knowledge from various fields of medicine. Thanks to their skill, prevention, timely diagnosis of the disease and prescribing the correct treatment, which eliminates the occurrence of relapses, become possible. A consultation with a therapist is required for the patient in the presence of any pathology. After this, the doctor directs the patient to undergo tests and additional procedures - MRI, cardiogram, fluorography, etc. Based on the results of diagnosis and establishment of cause-and-effect relationships, the therapist, using knowledge of pharmacology and other areas, prescribes conservative treatment - injections, taking pills, IVs, physiotherapeutic procedures, etc. During the working day, dozens of patients visit the local doctor. He visits seriously ill patients personally, coming to houses located in the territorial area assigned to him. The doctor works two shifts, managing to maintain patients’ medical records - paperwork and filling out forms electronically takes up a lot of the doctor’s time. In addition, the therapist is involved in medical examinations, medical examinations, health education work and organizing vaccinations. At the same time, he manages to follow news from the world of medicine, the latest developments in the pharmacological industry and the appearance of new drugs on the market. The heavy workload and degree of responsibility of therapists for the health of patients cannot be envied. A doctor, despite being busy at work, like other doctors, is obliged to regularly improve his qualifications. He receives points for accreditation, which must be completed once every 5 years, by participating in conferences and symposia, publishing scientific articles and books on medical topics. Doctors celebrate District Therapist Day on October 17 at their workplace, accepting congratulations from grateful patients and colleagues. At home, doctors are waiting for congratulations from family members and friends. Therapist's Day is not included in the official register of professional holidays of the Russian Federation. But this does not in any way detract from the importance of this specialty and the role of doctors providing primary care to patients.
In any country, even the most developed, there are people whose income is significantly lower than the income of their compatriots. Often, the level of earnings depends little on the level of education or social status of the family into which this person was born. However, if in a developed country an ordinary citizen has a chance to escape from a difficult financial situation, then a completely different situation is observed in the countries of the “third world”. In such states, most residents are forced to survive on a monthly income that would seem paradoxically low for residents of more prosperous countries. To correct this injustice, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was established. Unlike other international holidays, this one is not due to a decision in international or national “supreme” circles, but to the initiative of ordinary people. It was ordinary citizens of various countries who gathered at Trocadéro Square on October 17, 1987 in Paris (France). More than 100,000 people signed a letter to national governments declaring that prohibitively low incomes violated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Therefore, maximum efforts must be made to respect these rights and the overall fight against poverty. The appeal adopted at the historically important meeting was immortalized not only on a memorial stone installed in this square, but also on similar structures in other countries around the world, including on the territory of international organizations. By adopting resolution A/RES/47/196 on 22 December 1992, the General Assembly designated 17 October as the annual International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. In its appeal to national leaders and governments, the organization called for the implementation of specific measures that not only contributed to the elimination of poverty and poverty, but also took into account the national, economic and other specific characteristics of each state. Also in this appeal there is a call to all non-governmental and intergovernmental institutions, as well as ordinary people who could help in solving this important task. In addition, this message contained a request to all UN Secretaries-General to use all the opportunities provided to them to ensure the success of this most important day for society. October 17 is a day during which not only numerous events are held, and the propaganda campaign in which people are reminded of the hardships and disasters of people living below the poverty level reaches its climax, but also a day distinguished by various promotions in the form of concerts and auctions and other public events. On Poverty Eradication Day, it is also a reminder to those who survive the daily struggle for food that it is up to them how soon there will be no more poor people left on our planet. On this day, from many stages one can hear the speeches of those who were able to escape from the shackles of poverty, in which they share their knowledge, experience and actions, which both allowed them to climb the social ladder and are capable of helping to eradicate poverty on Earth. Only intensified efforts of all inhabitants of the planet without exception in the fight against poverty will make it possible to build a sustainable and prosperous future for every person, regardless of his place and time of birth. Only the possibility of attracting people into public life who are currently living below the poverty line will become a new stage in the development of human society.
Every year on October 17, an unusual folk holiday is celebrated: Day of Candlelight Gatherings. It is suitable for any person who takes care of the location of the holiday in advance and buys suitable candles. They can have different shapes, colors, aroma and are made from natural wax, paraffin, stearin, and helium. The main thing is that you need to create a comfortable atmosphere for yourself and your companions and do not forget the fire safety rules. History is silent about who came up with Candlelight Day. Based on the mystery and romance of such an event, it should be assumed that the holiday with candles was introduced by people who revere the burning fire as a shrine. Fire has long been considered a miraculous weapon that disperses evil spirits, darkness, unbelief, and evil. A clear confirmation of this is the burning lamp near the images of the Saints. It cleanses the home from filth, sins, temptation, and gives grace. Therefore, a candle that repeats the functions of the fir tree can perform a cleansing effect. Moreover, its power extends both to all people present and to the room. There is an opinion that in the place where the flame begins to crackle or smoke, evil forces are present. But the flame defeats him. Even the fact that the candle goes out is not scary. It should be re-lit using a match or lighter. It is advisable to spend part of this holiday, or at least one hour, with a lit candle, which will become a harmonious addition to a romantic date, an evening of memories, meetings with relatives, friends, gatherings with your husband or with your family. You can even sit quietly alone with a lit candle, think about something pleasant, and plan things for the future. Mysterious and alluring candle light creates a special mood and puts you in a lyrical mood. Thanks to the candle glow, something intimate hovers in the surrounding space, exciting hidden feelings. At the same time, you are allowed to eat, dream, remember, and even practice magic. On a candle holiday or on any other day, you can perform a magical ritual to fulfill a wish, cleanse yourself of illness and negative energy, relieve depression and blues with the help of a burning candle. To do this, write your wish on a small piece of paper. It needs to be rolled into a tube and brought to the fire. During combustion, you should mentally imagine what you want with the ways to achieve it. This should continue until the paper leaf turns to ash. Then you need to wait until the candle burns out completely. After this, the ashes are collected and scattered in the wind. If the ritual was carried out in the house, it is advisable to go outside or perform a ritual scattering from the window. A sacrament performed in an apartment does not have to be performed on the ground. Ashes can be scattered from the balcony. Regardless of the scenario, an evening with candle fire will be unusual and magical. This is achieved due to the unique atmosphere of peace, comfort and relaxation, and the special magical power created by candlelight. A burning candle is considered a winning option when two people who care about each other meet. It instills understanding, love, mystery. That’s why many restaurants offer dinner for two by candlelight. Live fire symbolizes romance, homeliness and comfort. Therefore, married couples need to organize such evenings not only on holidays, but much more often. Experts say that along with candle burning, anger, resentment, and misunderstanding leave the house. To improve family relationships, you need to light candles in the house as often as possible.

Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, communicated with those around him with pomp and pathos, using complex turns of phrase and meaningful expressions in his speech. A sublime and pompous style is characteristic of V.A.’s odes. Zhukovsky, G.R. Derzhavin and M.V. Lomonosov. With the help of exquisite metaphors and original epithets, they glorified the reigning persons, Empress Elizabeth, Alexander I and Catherine II, the heroism of the soldiers who died on the battlefield, and love for the Fatherland. An elevated style helped poets convey the depth of their own feelings and emphasize the significance of the personality of the person to whom the literary work is dedicated. Gradually, pompous words and phrases went out of use. Today they can only be heard in the theater, on the stage of which a historical tragedy or drama is being played out, or during religious services. The Church Slavonic language, which is used for prayers and chants, is one of the ways of elevating believers above the everyday life. Nowadays, the pompous syllable, which in the old days spoke of a person’s aristocracy, his learning and level of intelligence, practically does not appear in speech. An unusual holiday is intended to correct this situation. October 17th is the Exalted Day. In O. Henry's story “We Tried It and We Convinced It,” two friends argue about how appropriate a stilted style of speech is in everyday life. The editor-in-chief of the magazine convinces his friend, an unsuccessful writer, that the sublime tone, these “stupid twists of an outdated provincial drama” should not be used even in stories and essays. “People in life, in a moment of mental turmoil, do not fall into heroism and melodic declamation. They are simply incapable of this,” one convinced the other. As life has shown, there is a place in it for the manifestation of different feelings and emotions, the use of vulgarisms, colloquial vocabulary and “celestial nebulae” - speech in an elevated style. When the editor-in-chief of the magazine, a literate and educated man, learned about his wife leaving him, he cursed like a real cab driver. His friend, having read his wife’s note, in which she said that she was leaving him, cried out to God, melodramatically exclaiming about heavenly gifts in the form of faith and love, drained to the bottom of the cup of suffering. As popular wisdom says, grief and happiness go hand in hand. Just like the sublime coexists with the ordinary, complementing each other as tradition and modernity, rational and irrational. Without contrasts and opposites, ups and downs, our life would be devoid of bright colors and strong emotions. An unusual holiday is called to draw attention to this - the Sublime Day.

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Day
On this day, tribute of respect is paid to Saint Hierotheos of Athens. According to folk superstitions, on this day the goblin and other evil spirits left their forest possessions for the winter and fell through the ground, not appearing until the warmth of spring. A harsh winter began on Erofeev's day; a special warming tincture of herbs and moonshine was prepared for the cold season.
