Holidays 10 october
Our society lives at an ever-accelerating pace. You need to do everything in time, not forget about anything. Satisfy physical, aesthetic, spiritual needs. Fulfill all your duties and at the same time do not forget to take advantage of some pleasant rights. In short, 24 hours a day is definitely not enough for a modern person to live a full life. Naturally, the psychological harmony of the individual at this pace of life is disrupted. A person becomes anxious, aggressive, phobias, complexes, neuroses and depression appear. It is important to understand that the resilience of the individual, his balance, is the main thing that can be in the development of society. You can’t do anything at the expense of your own mental health. Every year, on October 10, the world has celebrated Mental Health Day since 1992. This day was established due to the fact that the desire of society to develop does not always correspond to positive indicators in terms of mental balance, and doing one thing at the expense of the other is not the correct solution to the situation. If you use statistical data, then, unfortunately, you can see a disappointing growth rate of depression in the world. That is, there are more and more negative mental states in people every year. It is not difficult to say what influences the formation of these statistics. Environmental factors, the rhythm of life, demands, progress - which you need to keep up with, traumatic, stressful events. In a word, maintaining mental health is very helpful. On October 10, for more than 25 years, various organizations and corporations have been organizing events to prevent mental disorder. All sorts of trainings, seminars or health-improving trips to nature, corporate events - this is what the day of October 10 is famous for. If we are talking about educational institutions, on this day they organize Mental Health Day, where students and teaching staff are invited to take part in interesting events aimed at uniting the team and distracting them from routine affairs and issues of education, responsibility and educational life. In a word, Mental Health Day is a kind of beacon for society, which, in the pursuit of life, sometimes forgets about its own, so important “I”. It is important to stop, think, delve into yourself, restore strength, find time for yourself, tighten some strings of your own soul or, conversely, relax. It is important to do this not once a year, but as often as possible - but on this day, receiving a reminder of the need to preserve your own mental health will not be amiss.
Since 2003, World Day Against the Death Penalty has been celebrated on October 10. The initiative to create the holiday belonged to the World Coalition against the Death Penalty, an alliance uniting organizations that seek to stop the deprivation of people's lives by order of the court. This international alliance consists of NGOs, activists, bar associations and other organizations that have united in an international movement against this type of punishment. Having been created in Italy not so long ago, namely in 2002, this alliance has brought together 150 international organizations in order to jointly fight the presence of such punishment as the death penalty in the 21st century. Today, the coalition organizes numerous international events aimed at raising public awareness of this controversial issue. The alliance's actions are by no means limited to loud statements about the need to eradicate such cruel punishment. The active educational activities of the coalition have already led to the fact that there are only a few countries left in the world that continue to sentence people to death. The governments of these countries are being called upon to follow the example of most powers, while members of the coalition are monitoring the conditions in which their subjects are condemned to death. Countries that have not yet eradicated the death penalty include China, Iran, as well as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iraq. These countries execute their citizens, undermining the very right of people to life. And although some of these states have already committed to consider abolishing the death penalty, it still exists in their territories, remaining the most inhumane and humiliating method, violating the universal rights of people developed in the democratic world. People sentenced to death in these countries are isolated from other prisoners, subject to brutal prison regimes and suffer deprivation. Locked in confined physical spaces in anticipation of imminent death, they often do not even have the right to visit relatives. London-based human rights organization Amnesty International reports the following statistics and figures: • About 800 women were sentenced to death across the planet.• In 2020, 483 people were executed, 16 of them women, in Egypt, Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia.• 108 countries have finally abolished the death penalty.• 8 countries have more people do not deprive of life for ordinary offenses.• 28 countries have in practice abolished the death penalty.• 55 countries do not abandon this punishment. Every year, campaigns are held to disseminate information about the death penalty in the world. Recently, at conferences and meetings, there has been increasing talk about the death penalty for women. Increasing attention is being paid to publicizing the stories of those who were supposed to be executed, but the sentences were commuted, and the defendants themselves were rehabilitated or pardoned. Global organizations that are part of the alliance are seeking to publicize gender discrimination, which can still influence and aggravate the verdict. The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty's web page has a list of actions to take to mark this world day: writing a letter to someone on death row, holding events such as art exhibitions and dramatic performances, mobilizing the media and making some kind of donation in their favor.
There are thousands of different dishes that are considered healthy, tasty and nutritious. Relatively recently, in 2009, International Porridge Day was established, which is celebrated on October 10. Many people wonder why porridge received such an honor. There are different opinions, but the main explanation is that it is a very affordable and nutritious product, which is extremely important in modern conditions, where many people do not have the opportunity to buy something more expensive. It was out of charity motives that the idea of organizing this holiday arose. There are many organizations, usually European and American, that strive to help people in poor countries in Africa, Asia, and South America. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to provide everyone with fish and meat due to the objective high cost of these products. But porridge will be an excellent alternative in terms of health benefits, environmental friendliness, and nutritional value. It is believed that this simple product saved thousands of people from starvation. It is not surprising that World Porridge Day was created in gratitude. It originated in the UK, where there are many international charities. Another factor that the holiday originated in Great Britain was English traditions. Many people know how touching the British are about oatmeal, considering it an integral part of centuries-old traditions. In this way, the British paid tribute to their favorite national dish. Currently, Porridge Day usually means charity. On this day, in many countries around the world there is a free distribution of food, including nutritious cereals. Also on this day, various culinary master classes are held. In addition, fun and exciting competitions are organized, for example, to identify the winner who can prepare a dish with porridge the fastest or offer the most original recipe. Fantasy is limitless, and October 10 becomes a special day where you can combine useful things for society and just have fun by inventing a variety of recipes. Today this holiday is dedicated not only to oatmeal, but also to other types of porridges: buckwheat, pearl barley, barley, corn, semolina, rice and other types. Every person, nation, diaspora celebrating this day chooses their favorite recipe. Not all peoples in the world are as reverent of oatmeal as the inhabitants of Foggy Albion. And, of course, on this day people can hear the truth, which is not always a delight to the ears. In particular, the issue of the planet's rapidly growing population and limited resources is raised. Questions are also being raised about how to feed people living in unfavorable regions of the planet. Of course, the sensitive topic of the inevitable reduction in the area of fertile lands due to too aggressive human activity is raised. Problems related to environmental protection do not go unnoticed. As you can see, Porridge Day was created precisely to raise pressing issues for humanity related to providing people with food. Thus, this holiday is simultaneously educational, informative, entertaining and charitable. It cannot be said that many people have heard about Porridge Day, but gradually the popularity of this holiday is growing. It is mainly celebrated in the countries of the Eurasian region, as well as in North America. It is difficult to say for sure why this particular October day was chosen. But it is believed that October was chosen because it is considered the month of harvest. In October, farmers cultivate giant fields of corn, wheat, barley and other crops that become the basis of this unpretentious, but tasty and healthy dish.
October 10 is World Homeless Day - the problem of people without shelter is relevant for all countries of the world. This day cannot be called a holiday, you just need to try on October 10 to help people without a permanent place of residence as much as possible to live at least one day of their lives with dignity. If possible, you can help such disadvantaged people with food and necessary little things. The idea of celebrating Homeless Day was first brought to life on October 10, 2010. The main goal of the holiday is to attract public attention to the problems of homeless people in different countries. Not all homeless people are alcoholics and drug addicts, as public opinion tells us - some were hostages of the system or simply could not go against their conscience. The main reason for homelessness is the lack of funds to purchase or rent housing. According to conservative estimates, there are about 200 million homeless people in the world, which is equal to the population of three Great Britain or Turkey. After the collapse of the USSR, the number of homeless people increased rapidly - the reason for this is the abolition of administrative controls over employment and the inability of some people to adapt to new living conditions. In addition, in modern Russia, scams involving fraudulent seizure of housing from people with a low legal culture have begun to spread. At the same time, the word homeless appeared - it means the status of a person without a specific place of residence. The problem of homeless people is the lack of effective government assistance to people who, for objective reasons, find themselves in a crisis situation. One of the few options out of this situation is the help of charitable organizations. They will provide shelter, food, clothing, and help with the restoration of necessary documents. You can please local homeless people with pleasant gifts in the form of food. You shouldn’t buy alcohol to please them; it’s better to buy bread, milk, pate, and butter. These products are high in calories and will brighten up your homeless existence. The best option is to get contacts from local volunteers so that they can tell you who needs financial assistance and when. It’s even better to find people in need on your own and organize a holiday for them at least once a year. The most important thing is that help should be sincere and come from the heart, that’s when it will bring benefits to those in need and pleasant emotions for the helper.
Today, Internet users find it difficult to imagine their lives without communication on social networks. In Russia, one of the most popular is Pavel Durov’s VKontakte platform. It is the center of the VK ecosystem, which also includes a payment system, food and grocery delivery service, taxi, VK Combo subscription, scooter rental, voice assistant Marusya and other projects. The platform domain was registered on October 1, 2006, and on October 10, the first version of the site appeared on the Internet. This date became the birthday of the social network VKontakte. Initially, the startup was created as a resource for communication between students, so one of the name options was Studlist.ru. As the functionality expanded and the project developed, the creators decided to stop focusing exclusively on a young audience. Today, the social network VKontakte is in demand by more than 600 million users of different ages, interests, social status and is available in 89 languages. Among them there are even such exotic ones as Kannada, the Dravidian language used by the inhabitants of southwestern India. The platform's audience increases annually, as does the daily activity of subscribers. The brainchild of Pavel Durov is the leader among networks in Russia in terms of the number of content published on pages - 496 million messages per month. At the same time, the popularity of the VK mobile application, which appeared in 2013, is also growing. The VKontakte network is often called a clone of the American Facebook platform. However, P. Durov claims that his resource is adapted to the interests of Russian users - both individuals and legal entities. Thus, banks and bailiffs use VK profiles to search for debtors, and the latter even send notifications about the introduction of enforcement proceedings using the platform. Interesting facts about the VKontakte network include:• 71.8% of residents of the Russian Federation visit it once a month, and 43.3% - once a day;• users send more than 10 billion messages per year;• 54% of the audience are women;• the average age of users is 21-40 years;• most of them are visual people who actively use iconography and pictures, value clarity in posts and love photo stories;• the least represented on the platform are men aged 55 years - 5% of monthly audience. On October 10, P. Durov celebrates not only his birth in 1984, but also the birthday of the social network VKontakte he created. The platform is among the TOP 20 most visited sites in the world, ranking 16th according to SimilarWeb. The popularity of the network is fully justified, because it allows you to create groups and communities, exchange text and video recordings, audio files, leave comments on posts, etc. Users appreciate the social network for providing these opportunities, so they happily celebrate VKontakte’s birthday on October 10.
