By a UN resolution in 2004, it was decided to celebrate May 8 and May 9 as the days of the end of the Second World WarUN Holidays - Days of Remembrance and Reconciliation commemorating the victims of World War II Honoring official events related to the date are recommended to be held since 2005 in member countries of the UN community The resolution was agreed upon in connection with the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II throughout the world
