Folk calendar - Paraskeva-Friday, Mother's Intercessor
Celebrated on 10 NovemberThe word “paraskeva” translated from Greek means “preparation for Saturday”; among the Eastern Slavs, Friday was also considered a semi-holiday.
The Day of Paraskeva Friday was sometimes called Flax Day, because on it, of all things, women were only allowed to ruffle flax. November 10 was also called Muddy, since at that time the autumn thaw began.
