International Pianist Day

“Love a pianist, quickly, quickly, very quickly - the motto of modern music” - these are the words from a comic song performed at different times by A. Mironov, V. Leontyev and L. Vaikule. Many classical works are written specifically for playing on the piano; it is difficult to imagine a symphony orchestra without a piano. The music performed by tappers accompanied dances at evenings and balls, and later, with the invention of cinema, silent films. On November 8, concert artists, accompanists, teachers of conservatories and schools, students and pupils celebrate International Pianist Day. International Pianist Day is a relatively young holiday. It was founded in 2014 on the initiative of musicians from Belarus. 2 years later, the tradition of celebrating Pianist Day was picked up by Chinese students from Nanchang Hangkong University. In 2016-2018 The team of the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University "Apothecary Garden" joined the celebration. Piano concerts were timed to coincide with this event, in which Russian pianists - laureates of domestic and international competitions - took part. One of them, a talented performer and composer N. Panyuk, decides to set his own record in Minsk by November 8th - 5 hours of continuous piano playing. The pianist succeeded - his achievement, the purpose of which was to popularize classical music, goes down in history. A year later, N. Panyuk breaks his own record, increasing the duration of the game by 1 hour. In 2018, musicians from 8 countries played Schubert's military march in unison on 666 pianos in the Chinese province of Hebei. 33 world-famous pianists, music teachers and conservatory students took part in the performance of the Austrian composer’s work. The achievement, achieved on October 6, 2018, is included in the Guinness Book of Records, and the money raised through the event is used to help blind children. Before the performance in China, the record was held to be the simultaneous performance of classical music on 555 pianos in South Korea. In September 2020, musician Ruslan Ishdavletov from St. Petersburg distinguished himself with his personal achievements. The virtuoso, who has been improvising on the piano for more than 10 years, took part in a marathon organized by him. The musician played the instrument for 42 hours and 24 minutes without a break, exceeding his previous achievement by 5 hours and setting a new world record. Pianist Day is celebrated on November 8 on an ongoing basis in Minsk, Moscow, Hong Kong, Vienna, Jerusalem and other cities in many countries around the world. The professional holiday is gaining momentum every year - more and more musicians are joining it, holding events on a national scale, promoting the development of international cultural ties. In honor of Pianist's Day, symphonic music concerts are performed, and seminars are organized where piano teachers are introduced to the capabilities of new instrument models. The holiday, which does not have an official status, is gradually gaining great popularity among professionals. International Pianist Day is widely celebrated not only by pianists, but also by fans of the piano, who appreciate the beauty of its sound and rightly believe that classical music unites hearts.
