Cameroon Holidays - National Youth Day

Every year on February 11, the Republic of Cameroon, a Central African state, celebrates National Youth Day. This holiday began to be celebrated for the first time in 1961. For Cameroonians, this year was marked by the reunification of two parts of the state: western (British) and eastern (French). This happy moment for the local residents meant the unification of the African people into one country, divided since the First World War territorially between the two metropolitan states of England and France. In 1967, Youth Day began to be officially celebrated by Cameroonians. Every year, starting on February 4, Youth Week opens in Cameroon. At this time, youth rallies, symposiums, concerts, and conferences take place. The leading youth of the African country demonstrate their achievements and promote a healthy lifestyle. In the week preceding the official holiday, educational events are held: issues of combating AIDS, drug addiction, and dangerous diseases are discussed. During this time, Cameroonian youth receive information about various programs to empower young people: issues of housing, employment, entrepreneurship, education, providing for families with children. February 11th is the culmination of the celebration of National Youth Day in Cameroon. The holiday is intended to show the importance of the role of youth in the social, political, cultural, and economic spheres of the state. In the capital of the Republic, Yaoundé, dignitaries congratulate residents on the holiday. National Youth Day plays an important role in the lives of young people. He raises the problems of employment and affordable education, ensuring a decent life for the population of Cameroon.
