Every year on November 27 in Rus' it was customary to celebrate the Filippov ritual. After it came fasting, which lasted 40 days and ended on January 7. It was customary to celebrate Philip's Day generously. In some villages, real dinner feasts were held for the holiday. Also, weddings were celebrated during the ritual by those who did not have time to get married in the fall and did not want to wait for the end of the Nativity Fast. Weather signs: if on November 27 the weather is snowy or the sky is overcast, then spring next year will be cold.
