Holidays 9 march
People who publicly play music recorded on audio media, leaders who set the mood and give positive emotions at entertainment events - all this is about them, about DJs. This unofficial professional activity appeared in our country approximately 20 years ago, but has not yet been registered in the labor list of professions. The demand for this position today is quite high; it serves as a kind of symbol of the younger generation. On March 9, World DJ Day is celebrated in all corners of the planet. This holiday was first established in 2002 by the decision of an association that uses music to treat various ailments. International DJ Day, called World DJ Day, is not an ordinary holiday, but a major charity event carried out since 2002 on behalf of the global club industry. Every year in many countries a whole week of charity is organized to help sick people, and the final stage of the campaign falls on March 9th. On this day, all income earned by DJs, radio channels, and night entertainment venues is transferred to charities that help sick people. In our country, charitable activities within the framework of this holiday are supported by an increasing number of media resources every year. The event was initially initiated by the World DJ Fund and the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Society, which uses music to support minors and adult patients. Traditionally, for several years, the charity mission has been carried out with the participation of popular media, in particular well-known music television and radio channels, as well as representatives of the international dance industry. The word DJ itself is an abbreviation of the English DJ (in some places the spelling deejay may appear), which means disc jockey (disc jockey) - the professional activity of people who play recorded musical compositions for the public. At first, discs were supposed to be records, but today CDs are increasingly being used. Thus, today the concept of disc jockey implies all types of music reproduction, regardless of the source. Today there are several categories of DJs. First of all, these are radio DJs who present and play compositions broadcast on radio stations. Also no less popular are club disc jockeys who work in bars, nightclubs, dance discos and even stadiums. In addition, there are mobile DJs who travel around cities and countries with portable audio equipment and present music at all kinds of concerts, performances and other events. And it happens that DJs perform songs and rap on their own.
A non-standard approach to solving any problems, from mathematical to life, and creativity are highly valued in the modern world. People who are distinguished by this set of qualities use various methods and non-trivial combinations of methods to achieve their goals. March 9th is the Day of Out-of-the-box thinkers who come out of any, even the most confusing and difficult situation with honor. They boldly go beyond the boundaries and break the mold, giving the world scientific discoveries and inventions. In honor of the holiday, contests and competitions are held to solve mathematical or chess problems. The winner must not only quickly complete the task, but also demonstrate his creative thinking. It is characteristic, contrary to prejudice, not only of scientists, but also of people whose profession requires a non-standard approach to the situation. This includes a manager who figures out how best to promote a service or sell a product on the market, and an accountant who saves money for the company thanks to the ability to look at the situation from a different angle. The Day of Unconventional Thinkers is a hymn to improvisation (the ability to introduce an element of creativity into a routine) and synesthesia (the ability to transfer sensations from one modality to another). This property is inherent in young children. Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Mozart saw music in color. Pythagoras and his students described vibrations of different lengths that arise when the strings of a harp sound using physical equations. Creativity is an expanded focus of attention: the ability to simultaneously cover several areas of life. Thinking outside the box expands horizons and changes worldviews. Thanks to this ability, it’s easy to turn from a pessimist into an optimist, because it turns out that any task or problem has a solution! Creativity is closely related to curiosity. Therefore, it can be argued that a non-standard approach broadens a person’s horizons, allowing him to acquire knowledge that he did not have before the occurrence of a specific situation. According to the observation of contemporaries, Einstein, who, by the way, did not study well at school, seemed to be in another dimension all the time. He mastered synesthesia, arguing that inspiration is more important than knowledge. Although, without a sufficient level of intelligence, it is difficult to demonstrate a non-trivial approach to solving a problem. Scientists say that to increase creativity it is necessary to develop the right hemisphere, which is responsible for creative thinking. The horizons of consciousness and the abilities of the human brain are not fully understood. Therefore, each of us has the right to consider ourselves a genius and a master of a creative approach to life, because by and large, standard (equally thinking) people do not exist in nature. Therefore, the holiday, which falls on March 9, can be celebrated by anyone. Have you uncorked a bottle of wine closed with a plastic cap without a knife, heating it with the flame of a match? Great. It turns out that you are a resourceful and smart person who did not skip physics classes at school. This means the Day of Out-of-the-Box Thinkers is your holiday.
March 9th marks a funny holiday - the birthday of the Barbie doll, which has become a cult toy. All girls used to dream of a classic blond beauty with huge blue eyes and a white-toothed smile. In the wake of popularity, toy manufacturers began to produce all kinds of accessories and sets with clothes, shoes, and handbags appeared on store shelves; entire roomboxes with miniature furniture and interior attributes. What was the reason for such a resounding international success? How was Barbie created? Mattel was founded by spouses Ruth and Elliot Handler in 1945. It bore little resemblance to modern brands. The company was headquartered in the couple's home garage, where they made picture frames. At first, business was not going well. The couple decided to switch from making frames to making accessories for doll houses and musical toys. This was the first step towards success. The change in direction had a positive impact on the company's fortunes. The business began to develop, the products were in good demand. At that time, girls played with baby dolls and received soft animals as gifts. Ruth watched her little daughter and her friends. The girls also had toy babies, but they preferred paper dolls. Such toys were sold on every corner back then. Dolls were made of paper or cardboard. They portrayed adult women. More advanced models were additionally equipped with a magnet. The same paper outfits and hats were made for the dolls. They were secured using thin circles of metal, which were attached to a magnet on the back of the model. It was possible to make such a doll at home. When Ruth watched her daughter play, she realized that grown women arouse keen interest in girls and attract them much more than dolls. At that time, there was only one doll on the toy market that fit this description: Bild Lilly. She was a comic book heroine and a reflection of fashion trends. Bleached hair, black eyeliner, scarlet lips - Lilly became the quintessential Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe. The dolls came in two sizes and were originally sold in gift shops and tobacconists. They were painted by hand. Lilly was first bought by adults for collections and as decoration for a bookshelf, but over time schoolgirls also became interested in them. It was Lilly who became the prototype of the first Barbie. Ruth's idea did not find support from Mattel management, but still the woman decided to bring it to life. Handler purchased a plastic Lilly and took it to the company engineer. Together they managed to completely redesign the doll. Ruth named the new model Barbie in honor of her daughter Barbara. The doll was made in two versions - with white and dark hair. The new product was presented at the toy fair. Her debut took place in 1959. Black and white swimsuits were sold separately for dolls, which became iconic, but the public did not like Barbie at that time. Some adults were slightly shocked by the frank appearance of the dolls and their overly seductive forms. The first years sales were very low. Ruth had to redesign the doll. The too flashy makeup was replaced with a lighter one, and her shape became closer to that of a teenager. Two years after the debut, a partner for Barbie was released, named Ken in honor of Ruth's son Kenneth. Three years later, Mattel bought the rights to Bild Lilly and its production was permanently discontinued. By 1965, Barbie's sales revenue amounted to more than one hundred million dollars. Gradually, the popular doll acquired a family and friends. Designers constantly came up with new outfits for her. The first black Barbie model was released, and by the 1990s, the doll began to actively master various professions, which led to the production of themed sets. The Handlers left Mattel in 1975, but they managed to create one of the best-selling toys in the history of the industry. Even today, despite the variety of different models, girls still dream of Barbry, which has become the standard of doll beauty, and adults fanatically replenish their home collections with rare specimens.
Entomologists, beekeepers and silkworm breeders celebrate an unusual holiday at the beginning of spring. They are joined by owners of other species of arthropods who, following modern fashion, keep Madagascar cockroaches, butterflies and ants. Few people can be surprised by silkworms in a human home, unlike tarantula spiders that live in terrariums. March 9 is the Day of Domestic Insects - arthropods that live side by side with people. In a private home you can find spiders, ants and flycatchers that are harmless to humans. Centipedes also grow in damp areas of the apartment. And if exotic scolopendras are specially purchased for breeding in terrariums, then cockroaches, ground beetles, clothes moths and ticks are unwelcome guests. Just like the book louse, which grows in stacks of paper, or woodlice, which destroys house plants. One cricket, accidentally flying into the window, pleasantly diversifies leisure time with its trill, although it disturbs sleep at night. But their population, settled in the house, poses a real danger, destroying clothing and food. Man has long cultivated wild bees. Mulberry worms were domesticated in China 3,000 years before our era. These insects, entomophages, bring obvious benefits, so hives are built for them and incubators are created to produce silk thread. Other types of arthropods, although they repel people with their appearance, are no less important for maintaining the balance of the forces of nature. Centipedes hunt flies, spitting spiders hunt crickets, worms, grasshoppers and cockroaches. Therefore, their appearance in the house often brings more benefit than harm. Humans have always had an interest in exotic species of insects that cannot be found under normal living conditions. For some they evoke disgust and disgust, while for others they evoke undisguised interest and a desire to study the peculiarities of their life and reproduction. Today, pet stores offer products that solve the problem of keeping ants, giant cockroaches and tarantulas at home. On sale there are insectariums, lamps for heating terrariums, soil for them, food, etc. All this satisfies both research interest and the craving of some arthropod owners for extravagance. Pet Insect Day is a holiday that pays tribute not only to their owners, but also to the bees themselves, silkworms, Madagascar spiders, tropical cockroaches and praying mantises. March 9 is celebrated by owners of colonies of ants, butterflies and mulberry worms, who understand that their charges are an important link in the natural chain of species. The absence of these living organisms will lead to disruption of the biogeocenosis of a particular area and more global negative consequences.
New - well forgotten old. This rule applies to fashion movements and trends that tend to return from oblivion in the fashion industry. So, in 2012-2013. Girls with fanny packs once again appeared on the catwalks. The peak of popularity of this accessory occurred in the mid-90s. XX century The waist bag was worn not only by fans of dance rave parties, but also by trade workers and tourists, who kept documents and money in it. The accessory owes its resurrection 20 years later to designer Donna Karan. In her spring/summer 2013 collection, she used a fanny pack to create a dynamic look for the modern city girl. In the DKNY youth collection, the fashion accessory is supported by baseball caps, military-style dresses and trouser suits. US stylist and designer Rachel Zoe made a miniature waist bag an element of a bohemian look in the spirit of 70s California chic. Lacoste, Gucci, Jeremy Scott and other brands used the sports accessory in their collections. The fanny pack is so popular among men and women of all ages that it deserves a holiday created in its honor. International Fanny Pack Day owes its appearance in 2007 to American Nick Yates from Roland, Oregon. According to legend, an American was coming from a Christmas party where he was given a fruit pie and a fanny pack as a gift. On the way to the bus stop, Yates met a homeless man. The man who gave him the pie and the bag thought about the injustice of the world and the problem of hunger on a global scale. The meeting inspired Nick Yates to launch an annual charity campaign to distribute food to those in need. Volunteers deliver food for low-income and homeless people in fanny packs, emphasizing that this accessory is not just a fashion statement. Thanks to hands-free bags, thousands of people in homeless shelters, nursing homes and other places receive food. So, since 2008, every second Saturday of March is celebrated as International Fanny Pack Day. The authorship of the fanny pack is attributed to Australian Melcha Stone. She was inspired by kangaroo pockets to create a fanny pack in 1962. However, it is known that back in 1952, the Austrian edition of Sports Illustrated offered its readers to order a “light leather bag” for Christmas, in which skiers could put a jar of wax and a lunch box when climbing the mountain slopes. Ironically, decades after storing documents, money, perfume, smartphones and other items, fanny packs began to be used for their original purpose. On the second Saturday of March, all people who care about other people's troubles in different countries of the world put food and lunch boxes with food in their belt bags to warm the needy with care and feed the hungry.
Land is a valuable resource in every country, and the country’s economy, and therefore the well-being of citizens, directly depends on its proper distribution. That is why the second president of Ukraine, L.D. Kuchma initiated land reform in 1999. Along with it, at the proposal of the Union of Land Developers and the State Committee of Ukraine for Land Resources, a holiday was established - Land Developer Day of Ukraine. The celebration is held annually, namely, on the second Saturday of March. This profession did not appear yesterday, but at all times it has been respected. After all, our future and the form in which the land will be given to our descendants depends on their work. Irrational use of this important resource can lead to the devaluation of important agricultural land, etc. In modern Ukraine, the profession of land surveyor is in demand, and it can be obtained in higher institutions of Kyiv, Zhitomir, Lviv and other large cities. The distribution of the land fund is handled by the State Committee on Land Resources, where the main land managers of Ukraine work. The land fund consists of 60.4 million hectares, which includes agricultural lands, forests, reservoirs, lands for residential and industrial facilities. Ukrainian land is priceless, because as much as 2/3 of its land consists of black soil. Such reserves of soil, important for agriculture, are the envy of any country. This is why Ukrainian land is attractive to foreign investors, but in 2001 a ban was introduced on the sale of land to foreigners. Why is Land Surveyor Day needed? On this day, employees related to this professional activity are congratulated. If there is a land surveyor among your friends or relatives, do not forget to congratulate him and be sure to wish him professional success in his important and difficult work!
Teacher's Day among the residents of Lebanon is considered one of the most favorite public holidays, rightly enjoying honor and respect. It is noteworthy that the event begins to be celebrated on March 3 and is celebrated throughout the week. The culmination of the celebration falls on March 9. A teacher belongs to the category of the most complex, humane, sincere and sought-after professions, since the calling of every teacher is to create and improve a person. In addition, representatives of the teaching profession have an incredible charge of energy. It is expressed not only in the regular search for a new information base, but also in the free transfer of one’s own knowledge and experience to students who need it. The same qualities are characteristic of Lebanese teachers. Using their example of great patience and love, they inspire schoolchildren to do good deeds and do the right thing. A single colloquium is observed in all local educational institutions. March 9 is a day off. On this day, children do not go to school, so the day before they congratulate teachers and organize special matinees with mandatory tea drinking and tasty treats. Teaching is one of the most revered professions in the country, so on this day children and adults express their respect and gratitude to teachers. Local residents begin attending school from the age of six. On the territory of the state there are not only government institutions that provide free education, but also private institutions for which you must pay to visit. All schools are supervised by the central bureau of education, which sets up programs common to all schools and monitors that they are adhered to. From an early age, Lebanese children learn not only their national language (Arabic), but also English and French (at the end of primary school, one of these two languages becomes the main language for mastering mathematics and natural sciences). Institutions use both domestic and foreign education schemes. For this reason, a sufficient number of teachers who come from other countries work in the state.
March 9 (February 24, old style) is celebrated as Midsummer's Day according to the folk calendar. According to the church calendar, this day marks the discovery of the head of John the Baptist, a prophet who lived during the birth of Jesus Christ. John predicted the birth of the Savior, and then baptized him in the waters of the Jordan River. He led an ascetic life and baptized believers. But the Jewish queen ordered the prophet to be beheaded, and buried his head secretly on the Mount of Olives. Years later, a vessel with the head of the saint was found during the construction of a temple in that area. To prevent infidels from getting to the relic, the vessel was buried, and it was only possible to find it again centuries later. The people called the day the Finding or Bird's Day. Winter was receding, it was getting warmer, migratory birds were flying back and starting to prepare for nesting. Sparrows made nests under the roofs of houses, magpies and buntings settled outside the villages, starlings and woodpeckers looked for hollows in the trees. Peasants often helped birds on Midsummer's Day - they built new or repaired old birdhouses. Women postponed washing things to another day so that hanging laundry outside would not scare away the birds from the yard. But different birds were treated differently. Swallows were considered messengers of the Mother of God; if they made a nest under the roof of a human roof, happiness awaited the household. Larks were also revered; residents were forbidden to exterminate them. But sparrows, crows and kites were classified as birds that had a connection with evil spirits. A raven sitting on a house always foreshadowed trouble in the family. On this day they prayed to Saint John for deliverance from headaches, asked him to protect children from illnesses, and to give a good harvest to the field. He was also called the patron saint of beekeeping, so the owners of the apiary checked the hives: if a loud buzzing was heard from them, it means that the bees survived the winter period safely. They also checked food supplies for the bees and fed them if necessary so that the insects could endure until the first flowering. The weather on Midsummer's Day determined what Easter and April itself would be like. If you saw roofs covered with snow, you prepared for the cold on Easter, and sunny weather promised warm Easter days. The return of birds from the south to Obretenie meant that the year would be fruitful. Their nesting on the south side of the house predicted a cold summer. The appearance of a clear moon with sharp edges in the sky foreshadowed frost in the coming days.
Orthodox holidays on March 9:
Every year on March 9 (in non-leap years) and October 11, Orthodox Christians celebrate the day of remembrance of St. Erasmus of Pechersk, a monk of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. The saint was born at the end of the 11th century into a very rich family. At the age of majority, Erasmus was tonsured a monk. He believed that it was unworthy for a monk to own earthly treasures and directed all his wealth to decorate churches and icons. By his order, gold and silver frames for icons were made, and the necessary utensils for churches were purchased. After all the property was distributed in the church, the monk became poor, and evil spirits began to tempt him. Once rich, who did not need anything, Erasmus lived in complete poverty, with meager food, seasoned with ash instead of salt, in simple monastic robes. The parishioners and monks turned away from the poor monk; worldly pride tormented him. It began to seem to Erasmus that this situation was caused by improper spending of money: he directed the wealth to decorate churches, but it should have been directed to the poor and wretched. The sin of regret about wasted wealth began to torment the soul. The awareness of the false truth plunged the saint into despondency, and then pushed him to a dissolute life, laziness, and carelessness about his soul. He lost interest in prayer and stopped caring about salvation, but God was merciful to the monk. A terrible illness overcame Erasmus. For a week he was bedridden, suffered from terrible pain, lay with his eyes closed, and could not speak. According to eyewitnesses, the monk’s condition was so grave that he could barely feel his breath. During his illness, Theodosius and Anthony of Pechersk appeared to the monk. They told the patient that they were praying for his soul, for the forgiveness of sins. Erasmus saw the Holy Mother of God with Jesus Christ in her arms, surrounded by the holy fathers. The Mother of God turned to her sincere disciple with words of gratitude for decorating churches and holy icons, assured him of the correctness of his generous actions, promised to free the saint from illness for repentance and acceptance of the schema, and instilled hope for salvation. The appearance of the Mother of God greatly impressed Erasmus. On the eighth day, he rose from his sick bed, amazing the brethren of the Lavra with his miraculous healing, and without hesitation, confessed his sins to everyone and asked to be tonsured into the schema. Three days later, the Lord took his faithful servant to the Heavenly Kingdom. The monk ended his earthly journey around 1160 on February 24, according to the old style, presumably at the age of 45-50 years.
Great Parental (Meat-Eating) Saturday precedes the Meat-Eating Week - the third of four preparatory Sunday days before Lent. The days are called meat-free days, since they are followed by a week when the ban on eating meat products comes into effect. In folk tradition, this week is called Maslenitsa, because you can still overeat with dairy and cheese dishes, which will become unavailable from the beginning of Lent. Thus, the day of Great Parental Saturday does not have a fixed date and depends on the beginning of the forty-day fast. If Meat Saturday coincides with church days of Christian saints, they should be celebrated later or earlier. But if Great Saturday falls on holidays that cannot be rescheduled, for example the Presentation of the Lord, it would be correct to perform the funeral service outside the walls of the church, preferably in a cemetery, or on another day of the week. Parental Saturday is also called universal Saturday, and is the day of remembrance of all the dead. The holy fathers put a lot of meaning into establishing this memorable date. It is necessary to remember not only loved ones who have passed on to another world, but also all strangers. Especially those who have suffered sudden or unnatural death. Prayers addressed to Jesus Christ ask for mercy and forgiveness of the sins of all those who have fallen asleep since the beginning of time, starting with Adam. The funeral church service calls to remember the coming Last Judgment, when everyone will appear before the mercy of God. Believers need to attend a service on Holy Parental Saturday; to personally commemorate deceased relatives, they need to order a mass in the church. When giving out alms and alms, you can silently mention those for whom it is not customary to ask in the temple. These are suicides, unbaptized, unbelievers, women who died from abortions and unborn babies, whose souls also need mercy. After visiting the temple, Christians arrange a funeral dinner, where the obligatory dish is kutya, consisting of wheat grains and honey. The composition of kuti has a symbolic meaning, where a person is likened to a grain that can grow from the ground, and honey reminds of heavenly life. In folk tradition, commemoration of ancestors was characteristic throughout the entire Maslenitsa week. Therefore, on Parents' Saturday, one could start baking pancakes and preparing for the winter farewell. All family members gathered around a large common table with an odd number of dishes. Treating deceased ancestors was obligatory; for this purpose, they left the remains of the meal at the funeral table all night or went with treats to the graves of loved ones.
