Holidays 24 april
The success of a company leader is made up of several factors - entrepreneurial spirit, a cozy workplace and an efficient secretary. The first two factors can still be excluded, but you definitely can’t do without a smart assistant. The secretary performs a large number of functions, which greatly facilitates the work of his boss. The profession requires maximum stress resistance and a beautiful smile. Therefore, this specialty is often chosen by women. Every year, office employees receive congratulations on their professional holiday. International Secretary's Day is celebrated on Wednesdays in the last full week of April. The introduction of such a holiday was proposed by New York City journalist Harry Klemfuss. Secretaries first celebrated their day in 1952. The official name is Professional Administrative Workers' Day. The seven days of the week on which the date falls are called the Week of Administrative Workers. In the United States, celebrating these dates has already become a good tradition. In 1952, Administration Workers' Week fell in July. At the time it was called National Secretaries Week. Wednesday was National Secretary Day. Somewhat later, in 1955, Secretaries' Week was moved to April, leaving the same name. It was not until 1981 that the name changed to Secretarial Workers' Week. In 2000, new adjustments were made and renamed the Week of Administrative Workers. Among the heroes of the occasion, the date is simply called Office Employees Day. Nowadays, Secretary's Day is celebrated not only by executive assistants. This is a holiday for all office workers - office managers, assistants, assistants, stenographers, clerks, assistant directors and heads of enterprises. It should be said that the profession of a secretary is popular. It is included in the TOP of the most sought-after specialties in the world. These are people who are engaged not only in taking calls and planning the manager’s working time. These are highly qualified professionals with extensive experience. The successful work of the entire company often depends on them. Administrative Employees Week is not just a holiday. This is an officially registered trademark. It belongs to the International Association of Administrative Officers. Many companies have their own celebration traditions. Buffets and banquets are organized in honor of colleagues. Congratulations are heard and gifts are given. Many managers issue bonuses in honor of the holiday and try to put less workload on their assistants. The easiest way is to decide on the choice of gift. This could be a beautiful pen or notepad, or another useful thing that will come in handy at work. Since the holiday is international, it is celebrated all over the world. But the dates of the celebration are different. So, in Australia it is the first week of May, in Pakistan it is the third Wednesday of April. National Secretary's Day in Russia is scheduled for the third Friday of September. Let us add that Secretary's Day in Russia is celebrated annually on the third Friday of September.
Residents of megacities are forced to put up with not only high levels of air pollution, but also the roar of the city, which does not sleep even at night. Sound from passing vehicles or an industrial facility, loud music coming from cafes, restaurants and neighbors' apartments, road works, vehicle signals - all this creates an unfavorable background noise that is harmful to human health. In the short term, it leads to a decrease in the productivity of the body, in the long term it causes physiological and mental illnesses. In 2011, WHO published a report on the environmental impacts of noise. It follows from this that high background noise has a negative effect on life expectancy. Representatives of a number of professions are exposed to anthropogenic sounds. Aircraft maintenance technicians and employees who work on runways suffer from the effects of aerodynamic noise, just as industrial workers suffer from the noise of operating equipment. International Noise Awareness Day was established to attract public attention to acoustic air pollution. On the last Wednesday of April, Germany, the USA, Brazil, Italy, Spain and other countries celebrate International Noise Awareness Day. Events dedicated to it were first held in 1996. Every year at the end of April, experts give lectures in health departments, schools and universities, open days are held in public institutions for hard of hearing and deaf people, and noise levels are measured in indoor and outdoor spaces. Experts in acoustics and otolaryngology conduct free hearing diagnostics and talk about sanitary standards that apply to sound vibrations in the environment. At night, the noise level should not exceed 45 decibels, during daylight - 55 dBA. The initiator of the International Day is the Center for Hearing and Communication. Sound as a physical phenomenon is mechanical vibrations of an elastic medium in the range of frequencies audible to humans. The first organ that they encounter on their way is the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for the production of neurons and other processes occurring in the human body. Therefore, it is so important to attract public attention to the problem of environmental noise pollution. Nature and man are inextricably linked. The natural acoustic background for people is gusts of wind, birdsong, and rustling leaves. Noise as a result of anthropogenic activity leads to sleep disturbances, cardiovascular diseases, hearing and central nervous system pathologies. International Day events not only raise people's awareness of the impact of loud sounds, which interfere with the perception of useful signals, on the human body. At seminars and lectures they talk about means of reducing noise levels: sound and vibration insulation of premises and equipment, acoustic screens, personal protective equipment (helmets, headphones and earplugs) and other protective devices.
Every year on April 24, a holiday is celebrated all over the world - Youth Solidarity Day. This holiday was first established in 1957 by the decision of the World Federation of Democratic Youth. Solidarity Day is not considered a non-working day in any state. However, it is celebrated all over the world by young people. Youth are the future of every country and the whole world. This day, April 24, serves as an occasion to attract the attention of the state and society to the problems of youth. Calls for the attention of the whole world to be paid to the issues of social protection of youth, as well as assistance in obtaining education and organizing leisure activities for young people. In the sixties, before the collapse of the Soviet Union, the holiday was celebrated very widely in our state. Concerts were held, youth congresses were organized, and all kinds of festive events were held. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, widespread celebrations of International Youth Day virtually ceased. In our times, in the twenty-first century, this holiday has rather a formal meaning and is celebrated sporadically. In modern society, young people pay a lot of attention. Thanks to the efforts of the youth themselves, associations of young people are being created around the world. The goal is to protect and uphold one’s rights, to unite efforts to solve social problems. Thanks to this holiday, not only youth organizations around the world began to gain great importance. Political parties and government bodies made themselves heard. Only unification in youth movements can ensure high-quality control over the observance of the rights of young people. This has the best effect on society as a whole, on increasing the level of education and upbringing of the younger generation. International Youth Solidarity Day is primarily a way to draw government attention to the needs of young people around the world. The future depends on solving the problems of young people.
On April 24, paying tribute to laboratory animals, people celebrate World Laboratory Animals Day. The holiday was proclaimed by the International Association against Animal Experimentation back in 1979. Thanks to the support of the UN and animal protection organizations in a number of countries, it quickly became worldwide. Experiments on animals took place in ancient times. But the scale of this phenomenon is now horrifying: more than 100 million animals are abused and killed in laboratories every year to save humans. The bulk of experiments (65%) are carried out in the medical field: drugs and new treatment methods are researched. Fundamental (military, space, etc.) developments account for 26% of experiments involving experimental animals. 8% are killed in toxicity tests during the development of cosmetics and industrial compounds. Student experiments cause the death of 1% of all experimental animals. Man, using his ingenuity, could have long ago abandoned conducting experiments on animals. Moreover, they are not always justified. The fight against cancer, for example, has been going on since 1971. The costs of experiments that used animals exceeded a billion dollars. And this is within America alone! However, despite this, experts have not found a cure for cancer. Cruel and ineffective experiments carried out on subsequently dying rats and monkeys, mice and rabbits, cats and dogs could not save a person’s life. The achievements of modern medicine show that progress in this area is facilitated not by experiments on living beings, but by high-quality clinical control of patients. This is precisely the idea that animal advocates and activists are trying to convey by organizing actions and rallies on April 24. The purpose of these rallies is a call to pay attention to our little brothers doomed to experiment. Large-scale educational events held on Laboratory Animals Day bring to society an expression of open protest aimed at abolishing cruel experiments. There are many ambiguities and contradictions in the field of protecting the rights of experimental animals, but only a humane and most compassionate society can resolve them.
Doctors are congratulated by patients and colleagues, educational events are held throughout the country - consultations, seminars and conferences. Here, experts talk about the importance of oral and dental care. The date for the holiday was set as the day of veneration of Antipas of Pergamon, the heavenly patron of dentistry.
Water containing carbon dioxide is a product of natural sources or the result of its artificial saturation with carbon dioxide. The thirst-quenching drink obtained in this way is not only pleasant to the taste, but also healthy. The famous heart surgeon Leo Boqueria claims that oxygen dissolved in soda kills harmful aerobic and anaerobic bacteria living in the intestines. Therefore, water cleanses the gastrointestinal tract from harmful microorganisms no worse than any medicine. Seltzer, club soda, mineral water are some of the many names for sparkling water, whose birthday is celebrated on April 24. The date of the funny holiday is associated with the receipt in 1833 of a patent for this seemingly ordinary soft drink. The invention quickly found application in industry. The installation for making carbonated water was invented in 1873 by a native of Germany, Jacob Schwepp. He is known as the founder of the Schweppes brand. With the light hand of a resident of Hesse, the water received the name “soda”, because. In order to reduce the cost of production, Schwepp began to use sodium bicarbonate instead of carbon dioxide. 13 years later, the Coca-Cola company became the first company to begin producing and selling sweet carbonated drinks. Despite the fact that the patent for water was issued on April 24, 1833, the time of its creation is considered to be 1767. This year, the English chemist D. Priestley, as a result of experiments at a brewery with carbon dioxide, discovered one of its properties - the ability to saturate water with gas . The scientist observed the process of fermentation of the intoxicating drink in vats and the bubbles released during this process. Under the containers with brewing beer, Priestley placed containers with water, which as a result of the experiment became carbonated. The chemist liked this non-alcoholic drink. And in 1791, having developed a formula for saturating liquids with carbon dioxide, Priestley received the first bottle of carbonated water. Over time, siphons appeared in homes, cafes and restaurants in America and other countries of the world. In Tsarist Russia, sparkling water was sold in bottles and called seltzer after the name of the natural spring Niederselters. In addition to siphons, gasogens (vessels from two interconnected glass balls) and bottles with a coded neck (Codd neck) were used to produce the drink. Over time, sparkling water began to be sweetened, flavors and dyes were added, and used to prepare alcoholic cocktails - for example, whiskey and compari with soda. Artesian wells are suppliers of literally life-giving moisture for the human body. Natural springs provide people with healthy water, rich in microelements and minerals. It is carbonated to preserve its healing properties during long-term storage, transportation and to improve taste. Water is also used in everyday life to remove stains. The gas dissolved in it acts as a surfactant, effectively cleaning the fabric from coffee, red wine and other contaminants. Using soda in deep fryers makes the batter shell lighter, giving the food a taste similar to tempura-cooked meat or fish. Paying tribute to all the listed qualities of the drink, on April 24, the birthday of sparkling water is celebrated all over the world.

The products of the fashion industry are as beautiful as they are expensive. Often the price of fashion items is unreasonably high, and the working conditions in neck workshops for workers leave much to be desired. After the Rana Plaza building, which housed five clothing factories, collapsed in Bangladesh in 2013, Fashion Revolution organized an event to draw attention to the problems of the industry. The initiative was supported by environmentalist and Fair Trade activist Kerry Somers. She, together with British fashion designers, advocated reforms in the world of the fashion industry. Therefore, April 24 is celebrated annually as Fashion Revolution Day. As a result of the tragedy with the destruction of an 8-story building in the Bangladeshi city of Savar, 1,134 people were killed and more than 2,500 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims were women and children whom the workers took with them because there was no one to leave them with at home. The tragedy could have been prevented if the factory owners had paid attention to the cracks on the façade of the building and evacuated the employees. This was done by other tenants of Rana Plaza - the owners of shops and a bank, and the sewing workshops continued to operate. All those involved in the April 24 tragedy were arrested by the police, but this did not stop workers in the industrial zone of the city of Savara from demonstrating. The rally turned into riots - 150 cars and sewing workshops were destroyed, and protesters were injured. On May 7, people who survived the destruction of factories blocked roads, demanding an increase in wages from a meager 38 euros per month to a higher one and payment of compensation for the damage caused. Their demands were met, but this particular case did not solve the problem for the entire industry. Fashion Revolution Day calls on the international community to pay attention to both violations of labor safety standards in sewing workshops around the world and the lack of transparency in the pricing process for light industry products. The fashion industry's supply chain and consumer awareness of social and environmental issues is also one of the goals of Fashion Revolution Day. To achieve this, an annual publication of the Fashion Transparency Index was launched, in which owners of large brands reveal details of the production of light industry products. In 2018, the Who Makes My Clothes campaign released a film that was highly acclaimed at the Milan Film Festival. 3 years earlier, a book entitled “It’s Time for a Fashion Revolution” was published in Brussels. On April 24, buyers of clothes and shoes are invited to think about who creates these things, what kind of work goes behind each of them. The organizers of the festival believe that fashion should be ethical in terms of reducing the harm caused to the environment of the planet and people during the production of light industry products. On April 24, everyone who supports this initiative puts their clothes on inside out and posts their photos on social networks with the hashtag #whomademyclose. These and other promotions are part of the events that are held annually on Fashion Revolution Day.

Antip Vodogon is celebrated on April 24 (April 11, old style) according to the folk calendar. The holiday owes its name partly to Saint Antipas of Pergamon, revered by Christians on this day. Antipas' life took place in the 1st century in Pergamon (the modern city of Bergama in Turkey). He served as a bishop and followed the teachings of the Apostle John the Evangelist. When the emperor forced his subjects to sacrifice to the pagan gods, Antipas refused and incited Christians against idolaters. For this, the pagans thrust him into the void of a copper bull and placed him over the fire. As a result of torture, the saint died, his body was secretly buried, and after 4 centuries a temple was erected on the grave of the martyr. The people called Antipas Vodogon for the full spill of water from the rivers. The ice on the rivers was just beginning to melt, the rivers were moving large volumes of water along their channels and often overflowed their banks. Residents were happy if there was a spill, because it foreshadowed a good harvest, but frozen and untouched ice on the reservoir promised a meager harvest. The Day of Antipas Vodogon was also called High Water. The peasants postponed sowing work for a day, did not sow the fields and did not prepare seedlings for the gardens. The reason for this was that the soil was too wet from the river floods, and seeds planted in damp soil could quickly rot. Saint Antipas was revered among the people as a dental healer. To get rid of tooth pain, peasants bit a silver coin and waited for several hours. Then a hole was made in it, a thread was threaded and hung near the icon depicting St. Antipas. Residents believed that such a ritual would relieve toothache. It was believed that on Antipov's day bears woke up from hibernation. Getting out of the den, they wandered through the forest for several days and adapted, only then began their hunt. Together with the females, cubs born in winter came out of the dens. Noticing the willow blossoms on Antipas Vodogon, the peasants were preparing for the final warming. If a dawn was observed in red light, spring was foreshadowed with winds and rains. The transition of small clouds into one continuous cloud meant imminent rain. But the rainy weather on this day pleased with the subsequent abundance of mushrooms.

Orthodox holidays on April 24:
On April 24, the Orthodox Church celebrates the day of remembrance of St. Antipas of Pergamon, who was one of the faithful disciples of John the Theologian and suffered martyrdom for the Christian faith. Antipas lived in the 1st century and held the rank of bishop of the church see in Pergamon. A large, rich city on the Aegean coast was the pagan capital of the eastern part of the Roman Empire. The pagans of Pergamum worshiped their idols with special pomp, making sacrifices to them in luxurious temples. But the speeches of Saint Antipas turned many idolaters away from their false faith, revealing the truth of Christianity. Having learned about this, the priests and leaders of the pagans decided to put an end to the Bishop of Pergamon. Antipas was captured, forced to recognize the pagan idols of the city. The saint was not afraid and replied that he would worship only God the Creator, his Consubstantial Son and the Holy Spirit. The villains, seeing the steadfastness of Antipas, tried to slander Jesus Christ, questioning his divine nature, but the bishop calmly answered the most cunning questions, revealing the essence of the Christian faith. Having made sure that the saint could not be intimidated, the pagan priests dragged Antipas to the temple of Artemis, where there was an altar in the form of an iron bull. The Bishop of Pergamon was thrown into the red-hot flaming beast like a sacrifice. But instead of screams and moans, the villains heard loud prayers praising the Christian God. After some time, the saint fell silent and accepted death, his body remaining untouched by the flames of the sacrificial fire. The incorrupt body of Antipas was mourned and buried with honors in Pergamon; his tomb became a miraculous place for thousands of Christians who came to the saint with prayers. Many serious ailments receded thanks to the protection of the Bishop of Pergamon, and in popular belief it is customary to turn to him for toothaches. The Day of St. Antipas is popularly called Vodogon and is associated with abundant melting of snow and ice. There are also weather signs noted on this church holiday: - rivers uncovered from the ice cover foreshadow a warm spring and an abundant, fruitful summer; - blush in the morning sky indicates a windy or rainy day; - unexpected frosts promise a rich harvest of milk mushrooms; - rain or rainfall predicts mushroom season.
October 17 and April 24 are the days of remembrance of Bishop Barsanuphius II of Tver, who is revered as the Kazan miracle worker, who became one of the first missionaries in these lands. The Kazan wonderworker was named John at birth. The boy was born in Serpukhov, where he spent his childhood. He quickly mastered writing and studied with great diligence, but at the age of about seventeen the young man was captured by the Tatars, who, during their next campaign, decided to devastate the villages along the Oka River. John was taken to Crimea, where he lived as a slave for three years. During this time, the young man learned the local language while his father raised funds to buy his son out of slavery. Three years later, Ivan returned to his native land and came to the Andronikov Monastery, where, according to a vow, he became a monk and received a new name. Barsanuphius was known as a very pious monk who led a righteous life. When Barsanuphius was almost fifty years old, Metropolitan Macarius appointed him abbot of the St. Nicholas Pesnoshsky Monastery. A few years later, Ivan the Terrible, who at that time reigned in Rus', visited the Nikolsky Pesnoshsky Monastery. He immediately noticed a talented abbot who could speak fluently in Tatar, and realized that his abilities could be useful in another land. Soon the Kazan diocese was formed. The king issued a decree according to which Barsanuphius was elevated to the rank of archimandrite. Together with German and Gury, he was sent to a new diocese to settle down. Two years later the first monastery was founded here. In it, the archimandrite consecrated the first temple - the stone Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and later the Transfiguration Cathedral. After another seven years, the number of residents of the monastery increased to hundreds. Barsanuphius was well acquainted with Tatar culture. He carried out missionary activities, converting locals to Christianity. The archimandrite was known as a healer who saved people from bodily illnesses. Patients often became Christians after being cured. Bishop Gury soon died. Herman became the new Bishop of Kazan. Barsanuphius was ordained Bishop of Tver and Kashin. The miracle worker led the life of an ascetic until the end of his days. He soon returned to Kazan, where he prayed every night and sewed hoods. After his death, he was buried at the altar of the Transfiguration Cathedral next to St. Gury. The discovery of their relics was made by the future Patriarch Hermogenes. Both bishops were canonized. Subsequently, the relics of Barsanuphius were transferred to another monastery, but at the beginning of the last century they disappeared.
